MAY 2, 1968 COMMEMORATIVE CENTENNIAL BOOK PROPOSED ._ The Community Church Library Committee has discussed a proposal for publishing a book on all of the Centennial projects that were completed in the community in 1967 by all of the organizations and private individuals. The Committee feels strongly that these projects should not slip into past history unnoticed, but should be preserved for future generations in this community . They are quite aware that the task of gathering up complete information on each project that was undertaken, is a considerable one. This will involve many persons and it is hoped that each organization will lend wholehearted support and will participate. Organizations and individuals who completed Centennial projects are asked to contact any one of the following persons: Harry Coe, phone 3743 Helen Farrell, phone 3704, Marlene Scott, phone 3655, Charlotte Slomke, phone 3849. KR RK KR KR RRR KKK KR KEK KER EE WARDROPE POSSIBLE THUNDER BAY CANDIDATE With a federal election called for June local associations of both the Liberals and Conservatives have scheduled meetings and are making plans to Hold nominations for candidates to represent their respective parties. Interest is high throughout the country and it should be even higher in the Thunder Bay Riding which will have representation for the first time under the new re-distribution, which excludes the Lakehead cities. The New Democratic Party have already named their candidate Rev. Douglas Sly of Nipigon. There has been a rumor that veteran Parliament- arian George Wardrope could be persuaded to accept a nomination for the Conservatives, but no rumors have reached us on possible Liberal nominees Regardless of politics we urge all voters to take an active interest in the election. FOUR YEAR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND TRADES PROGRAM ' The Terrace Bay High School will be introducing grades 9 and 10 of this program during the fall of 1968 when shops for education in the Automotive and Applied Electronics-electricty Technology will be constructed. During the first two years (grades 9 and 10) of this course approximately 20% of school time will be spent in the two shops but during grades Il and 12 approximately 40% of the time will be spent in the major shop. Academic subjects studied will include English, History, Geography, Physical Education, Mathematics and Science. A more practical approach to these subjects is used in the Four Year program, for instance the Mathematics is less theoretical and shop application of Mathematics is emphasized. French will not be offered in this program as these students do not go directly into grade 13 and University but graduates of the Four Year Program are eligible to attend Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology for further formal education. Admission requirements vary at different institutions and for different courses.
