TERRACE BAY NEWS SCHREIBER Mrs. F. Holland and Mrs. Julia Spikula are in McKellar Hospital, and Mrs. A. McColeman is in St. Joseph's Hospital in the Lakehead. Mrs. R. McBride and Mrs. Hobden Spikula were in Fort William visiting them. The Young Progressive Conservatives started their membership drive this week, headed by Marvin Osmar of Terrace Bay and Dominic Pellagrino of Schreiber . Mrs. E. Fummerton and her son Mark spent the past week in Toronto, where Mark was receiving medical tests at the Toronto Sick Children's Hospital The Superior Deanery Girls' Auxiliary, comprised of Schreiber and Marathon, received second place in the recent deanery festival, getting awards in knitting and drama. Schreiber's leader was Sandy Dennison. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Forbes Macadam last week were their son Gordon of Winnipeg and son-in-law, W.O. 2 V.R. Nott, of Trenton. Jim Bryson, R.C.N. Halifax, has been home this week visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bryson On his return to Halifax, his ship will go to England Mrs. Peter Christie, nee Linda Handel, was hon- ored at a tea arranged in St. John's Church hall on April 3, when she was assisted in receiving by her husband's mother, Mrs. Lilian Christie, and Mrs. Tommy Whitton. The tea was poured by Mrs. R. Macadam and Mrs. J.D. Bryson, Mrs. C. Pearson, and Mrs. J. Spillane. The servitors were all C.G. 1.T. members, (Mrs. Christie being the leader) in- cluding Susan Johnson, Monica Frommann, Linda Birch, Nola Fummerton, Doris Lehto, Billie Weaver, Judy Richardson, Sharon Smith, Brenda Krystia, Linda Bennitz, Debbie Armstrong, and Linda Pitka- nen. ing were Mesdames W. Miller, J. Sitt, L. Godin, N. Nesbitt, and J. Bryson. Mrs. Diane Figliomeni was the lucky winner of the pre-bingo sale of tickets draw held recently by the Kinsmen Club. CATAFORD HONORED ON RETIREMENT Officials, fellow-workers, and friends gathered in the town hall to extend congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. George Cataford on his retirement from the engineering department of the C.P.R., after 25 years service. (Cont'd in next column) Katherine McLeod opened the gifts and Nancy! Spillane was in charge of the guest book. Replenish APRIL 11, 1968 Schreiber division superintendant, J.D. Bromley paid tribute to Mr. Cataford's service, saying much of it was during the difficult war years, when not only traffic was at its highest and speedy delivery of the utmost importance, but materials required to effect this were in short supply. Division Engineer, Bill Tripp, said he lee with seven engineers who had previously worked with Mr. Cataford, paying tribute to his meticulous drafting, and read letters pertinent to the occasion. He then presented a scale replica of a bridge at mileage 122.77 east of White River, which was planned by Mr. Cataford, and to roars of applause, revealed a secret compartment containing a gift never used in building a bridge, but frequently in celebration of its completion. Other gifts were an easy chair, a wallet contain- ing money, a corsage to Mrs. Cataford, a popular "To" worker on many committees and similar occd= sions for others. On his last day of work, officers and office workers gathered in the station to offer congratulations. Among those present from out of town at the party were Mr. and Mrs. P. Wilson of Port Arthur, Mr. and Mrs. K. Karymieczak of White River and Mr. and Mrs. J. Santerre of Terrace Bay. Music for dancing was supplied by Allan Bourk and Herb. Gellert, both railroaders, and the evening ended with a buffet lunch. Mr. and Nes Cataford plan to remain in Schreiber . Shown in the photo below by Inez McCuaig are from left to right: J.D.
