ERMEL ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD Mr. H.M. Ermel, a member of the public library board for over 25 years, was elected chairman at their meeting on February 3. Miss Gwen Hadley was elected secretary-treasurer, and votes of apprec iation were given to both. The library will be open on a trial basis Wednesda and Thursday from 4-5 p.m. for research only. No book exchanges will be made on these days. An in- creasing amount of time is spent at all school levels in research and with the librarian busy on book ex- changes on regular days, she has no time to assist in research. Mrs. Andrea Hill was reappointed librarian, the board being very satisfied with her work and interest. All members act on the book selection committee and lists are presently being made for the Spring selectio PAGE 13 Readers are asked to present to Mrs. Hill the names of books they would like. 1,088 books were ex- hanged in January, approximately 200 more thap in} ynuary last year. The number of young readers in- xreases steadily. The sum of $500 was budgeted for purchase of new / books. Mrs. Hill will attend a workshop in Nipigon on February 14. Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire will repre- sent Schreiber library at an area trustee's meeting in Terrace Bay on February 22, to be attended by Man- itouwadge, Terrace Bay and Marathon also. Book dividers were ordered and a three week's guarantee on book binding was received. The Canadian National Geographic was reordered for a year., The board, dissatisfied with the slowness in filling an order for membership cards wrote asking that it be forwarded.
