TERRACE BAY NEWS Vol 11 No. 5 SERVING THE DISTRICT February 1, 1968 HEROISM RECOGNIZED AT COUNCIL MEETING Shown in photo above by L. Niiranen are, from 1 to right: Archie'Heinrich, Reeve Cavanaugh, and Roaul Cormier. A highlight of last Tuesday's regular Council meeting was the presentation of parchment certificates to two local men, Archie Heinrich and Roaul Cormier, who rescued a fishing party, whose boat had been swamped on Lake Superior. The certificates are given by the Royal Canadian Humane Society and are signed by the President, Vice - President, and the Secretary of that organization. When making the presentation, Reeve Cavanaugh said; "It is always a pleasant duty for Council to pay tribute to our citizens for Meritorious Services, but | must say this case to-night has special significance in that lives were no doubt saved at great personal hazards to the rescurers. | am sure you gentlemen had no thoughts of medals when you were battling the waves of Lake Superior and it is therefore a special honour for me to-night to present to you this Certificate of Merit from the Humane Society of Ontario for the courage and quick action you performed." .
