JANUARY 25 1968 CANCER SOCIETY MEETS The Cancer Society of Terrace Bay met recently at the home of Mrs. Vivian Rapke. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mrs. Helen Brooks reported on the open air tea held on the lawn of the Municipal office last summ- er, which was very successful in spite of the weathey Many tourists stopped to enjoy a cup of tea, along with the townspeople. Church calendars displaying the Daffodil will be used to open the cancer campaign. The Cancer Society would like to find a woman, able to run a projector, so that Cancer filins can be shown to the women of Terrace Bay some afternoon. Recreation Director D. Courtemanche and Mr. B. Rowsome , Principal of the High School formed the panel. Mr. Rowsome stated that there seemed to be a lack of enthusiasm and leadership among the youth of Terrace Bay, and a lack of communication between teen-agers and their parents. The meeting was called to see wheth- er or not there was a need for a Community Confer- ence in Terrace Bay. The Dept. of Education, Fort William, is willing to send counsellors here to assist the Community Services Committee in holding a seminar to discuss the problems. Mr. Courtemanche stated that survey forms would have to be completed before a document could be prepared. The objective of the conference would be Community Dialogue, be tween participants.
