Start- ing at 6.30 Friday night, curlers from Chapleau, Wawa, Marathon, Schreiber, Nip/Rock and Terrace Bay began to arrive to compete. The first draw be- gan at 7. and continued till 11 p.m.. MacDonald, Schreiber and Terrace Bay Senior Girl's met ina basketball match to compete for the Sir John A. MacDonald trophy. This trophy originated in Terrace Bay last year and was won by the Schreiber Senior Boys. This year, however, the trophy was returned to Terrace Bay, as the Senior Girl's trounced Schreiber 37-18. High scorers were Kristine Olsen and Lynn Simmer for Terrace Bay, and Mary Speziale for Schreiber . Terrace Junior Boy's were soundly beaten by Schreiber with a score of 35 - 5. Two busloads of spirited Terrace Bay students were on hand to support their teams. That's the spirit kids! Keep it up. Photo on page 11 shows team holding trophy NORTH WESTERN CURLING FINALS ~ The North western zone curling play- offs were won by Syl Duquette and her rink. With Syl Duquette as skip, Norma Crockford, third, Ollie Chapman, sec- ond, and Glenna MacDonald as lead the team won two out of three games over Peggy Wellings team of Ann La- tour, Ivy Pattison and Marge Liebrock. The Terrace Bay rink then advanced to Marathon where they again took two games out of three. They now represen this area in the North Western Finals which will take place in the Port Arth- ur Curling Club, starting Jan. 22.
