Aie& MacEachern of Toronto | visita Mr. and Mrs. Lester Mc- Cuaig en route to the Lakehead and Winnipeg. The ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion, Br. 109, held their Christmas party meeting Jan. 9 with Mrs. Bobbie Win- ters presiding. A social evening was planned for January 23 with Mrs. Bar- bara Nesbitt. and Mrs. Ethel Nesbitt convening. The tentative date of January 31 was set for the penny auction, in the town hall. All members are asked to donate. A Sadie Hawkins Night was planned for February 29. TERRACE BAY NEWS 4no Spadoni is in St. Jospeh's Hospital in Port Arth- ur following surgery. Mary Ellen Gerow was home from Fort William for the week- end and was accompanied by Janet Rome. John Hucul is in McKellar Hospital in Fort William CAN. LEGION BRANCH 109 The membership of Mrs. Bev- arley Himes, former second vice-president, was transferred to Branch 6 Auxiliary, Fort William. The Auxiliary is still seeking to purchase a new piano for the zlub room. Mesdames Penny Caccamo, Frankie Caccamo, and Joan Costall were named hostes es 8 € 8 for the February meeting. A gift exchange followed the meeting. ~ CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE SERVES DINNER Twenty - three attended the Christmas dinner meeting of the United Church Women served by the Catholic Women's League recently. Following the meal, a brief business meeting was held with Mrs. Wesley Clemens presiding. Annual reports were present- ed. The 1968 budget was also presented and approved. Copies of the new constitu- tion, bylaws, and membership cards were placed on order. 'Mrs. E. C. Prinselaar accepted the position of card secretary. Mrs, Florence Whent and Mrs. Anna, Laine accepted the posi- tion of auditors. The following dinner commit- tee. for the year was named: Megdames David Nesbitt, Lil- liar Christie, John Spillane, Jim Gray, Erle Holmes and Wesley Ciémens. Plans were made for a Val- entine tea on February 14 in the church hall. A social evening and ex- change of gifts followed the SCHREIBER STUDENTS ATTEND SESSIONS HELD AT LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY 'W.E. Loree, Principal of the Schreiber High 'School was pleased to find that his request for a | session to be held at the Lakehead University, was granted. Thirty-two students from grade 12 and 13 were billeted and enjoyed a full two days of sessions organized by Dr. D.J. Tamblyn At the same time the basketball squad, accompan- ied by coach Albert Costa and cheerleaders, were entered in the North Western Ontario Basketball Tournament, and were doing very well indeed. REEVE NAMED AS HONORARY MEMBER OF THUNDER BAY T.B. ASSOCIATION # The Reeve of the Municipality was named an hon- orary member of the East Thunder Bay T.B. Associa- tion at a regular meeting held on January 14th in the home of executive secretary, W.G. Furlonger. The committee was pleased with the response to the annual seal sale so far, and they are most apprecia- tive of the excellent work done by the Bank of Mon- treal, where all contributions were opened. These are given to the secretary for entering, and careful files have been kept since 1945. Mrs. Beatrice McCuaig was appointed to accompany Mrs. Inez McCuaig to the O.T.A. meeting in Toronto during the latter part of this month. Mrs. Beth Macadam re quested that new publicity films be ordered for the first two weeks of any month when most organization meetings are held. WEEK OF CHRISTIAN UNITY A Community Service will be held on January 21 at 7.30 in the High School Auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE CHRISTMAS PARTY The Women's Institute held their Christmas banquet in the Superior Dining room, with twenty-three mem- bers attending. Mrs. George Bailey, a former pres- ident and now a resident of Fort William, was guest speaker. Following dinner the party went to Mrs. J. Corbett's home for social evening. Gifts were distrib uted from a silver tree by Mrs. Harvey McCanna and Mrs. John Morris. A round of penny auction was man aged by Mrs. Welsey Miller, Mrs. Keith Nesbitt, and Mrs. Tommy Whitton. Mrs. J. Campbell proposed a {vote of thanks to Mrs. Corbett following lunch to which each member had contributed a sample of her Xmas cake. The rol! call at the January meeting of the Women's Institute was answered by presenting boxes of cards to be used by the social secretary. Plans were'started for the presentation party for the New Year baby - though the baby has not yet arrived. Mothers of bab- ies born during Centennial year will also be invited and presented with Centennial spoons. Mrs. Harvey McCanna presided for the meeting.
