SCHREIBER MINOR HOCKEY NEWS Coaches Needed! - The Fall meeting of the Schreiber Minor Hockey Association was held on Friday, October 13 in the basement of the Anglican Church with a number of interested persons on hand. After disposing of the minutes and financial statement the meeting, chaired by president Reg. Bailey, settled down to discussing new business on hand. The chief item presented was the creation of a new position of Program Co-ordinator, whose duties would be to look after the scheduling of all minor hockey games--regular and exhibition and to set up ice time for practice, etc. Harvey Car- michael of Schreiber accepted this position and it is hoped that anyone wishing to contact the Schrei- ber Minor Hockey Association will phone him at Schreiber 158. The election of officers followed--Reg . Bailey returned by acclamation as president - Frank McKen na was elected vice-president with Bill Stefurak being elected by acclamation to serve once again as Sec-Treasurer. A special committee headed by J.D.Bromley was set up to look after the raising of funds. Registration for minor hockey will be held in the Public School, Friday, October 20th from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. with the fees being the same as last year--$1.00 for Mice on Ice and Beginners - $1.50 for PeeWee up to Juvenile with the bulk of the registration fees to go towards obtaining insurance coverage. The deadline for registration will be November 15th, 1967. It appears there will be a shortage of coaches this year, especially in the Mice on Ice and Begin- ners categories. Anyone interested in looking after these teams please contact Reg Bailey. If we can not get the necessary help we may have to cancel out hockey for these boys. If you are a parent how about taking your turn even once every two weeks at the rink and help out. Mary Lynn O'Brien marked her ninth birthday with a party for twenty-three friends - in her home. birthday cake was made by Mrs .Rene Bedard . ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE REPORT from October 8th to October 14th Total Duty Hours 160 = Roads patrolled 1,000 mi. Five accidents were investigated with $1,925 dam- ages, one injury and one fatality. October 19, 1967 ROSSPORT NEWS - The Centennial Committee sponsored an old fash= ioned Bean Supper in the Community Hall last Sun- day afternoon. The tables were covered with red and white cloths, centered with bowls of red moun- tain ash berries and coloured Fall foliage. The ladies wore Centennial gowns and hats. President Mrs .C .Todesco welcomed the guest--Mrs . Schelling took admission and pouring tea were Mrs .Hattie Yandon and Mrs .Angela Testori. Brewing the beverages was Mrs.Dan Gerow, kitchen duty was looked after by Mrs.Herb Legault, Mrs .Felix Le- gault, Miss Joyce Mushqush--cutting pies and bread were Mrs.Len Ibey and Mrs.Mac Hubelit and servi- tors were Mrs.T.Yandon, Mrs.P.Gerow, Mrs.G. . Lespinski, Miss Patsy Gerow and Miss Carol Lespen ski. Alex Zwaresh left to take in Expo and visit rela- tives in Toronto. Gerry Bouchard, Reg Yates and companion prac- tically had their Moose given to them Friday morn- ing. Three moose wandered on to the road at the foot of mileage 19 hill and the three hunters were able to drop them on the side of the road and load them into their truck with no difficulty. Lakehead visitors this week were Mr.and Mrs.T. F .Seppala, Mrs.H.Legault, Mrs.T.Yandon, Mrs. Mary Boudreau, Miss Patricia Gerow and Mrs.M. Matchett. Harry Charles and Alphonse Fenter are spending the winter in Fort William. Mrs .M.Howe has returned to her home in Port Arthur for the winter. Mrs .Grace Bruley and her father, Mrs.De.Paulo of P ort Arthur were business visitors last week. Gilbert Gerow and a party of Manitouwadge hunters are on an expidition to the Islands. Royal Rochon became separated from his hunting companions on Wilson Island last Sunday and was lost over five hours before being discovered on the opposite end of the island after travelling through heavy bush and swampland .
