His active interest in sports (hockey in particular) has made him weil known in the district. The number of interested citizens who attended meet- ings in both Terrace Bay and Schreiber indicates, we hope, a resurgence of political interest in this district. In an all too brief summary of his participation on various parliamentary committees Mr. Andras acquaint- ed his listeners with some of the workings of parliament. An able and versatile man, Mr. Andras interests have been far ranging but he indicated that now he hopes to specialize. One project he is working on is a compre- hensive economic and sociological research study of - Northwestern Ontario. Backing for the project has already been promised by the Federal Government but the study can only be instigated by the Provincial government and it is expected that arrangements will be finalized this fall. Mr. Andras re-iterated his stand on the pipe-line issue and answered questions put to him on various sub- jects. Mr. Andras was introduced and also thanked by Reeve W.E.Cavanaugh. East started with one club and South over- called one no trump showing 16-18 points. North bid two clubs artificially asking for afour card major suit and South showed his spades, North raised to game. The club eight-spot was opened and East's king was won by de- clarer's ace. A low spade to the king and a low spade return netted the queen and a third round drew all remaining trumps. Five diamonds were run and the closed hand sluffed two clubs. East now had to bare down to the A-Q of hearts and the Q-9 of clubs. At trick nine the heart ten was led from dummy and East was caught with his heart tenace. East rose with the Ace and returned a club, declarer ruffed and claimed the balance with the heart king and the good trump in dummy. Declarer could count East and could judge accurately the loca- tion of the heart and club honours from East's opening bid. Declarer had a top score as everyone else had been play- ing no trump making five. ~
