Tribute was paid to Mr. Furlonger's service with the car-men, 25 years their secretary and 20 years local chairman. In addition he has served the community for fourteen years on the public school board, presently being chairman, was town assessor and for years treasurer of the Anglican Church. Following the ceremony in the car barn the group went to Mr. Furlonger's home and later a family dinner took place. During the evening friends called to offer con- gratulations and gifts. A treasured gift was pre- sented by Mrs. John Elliott ( Earldean Gray). of North B ay, their bridesmaid, who was given the honor of proposing the formal toast to Mr. & Mrs. Furlonger. Among those from out of town attending the party were their son Laurie with his wife and children of Ottawa, their daughter Maybelle (Mrs. Del. Weberg and children and husband of Terrace Bay, Mr .&Mrs . SCHREIB ER NEWS The sum of $255.45 was collected for the Red Shield Salvation Army fund by the ladies auxiliary to the Canadian Legion, Branch 109. Mrs. Vi Rigelsford and Mrs. Beth Macadam convened the project. Beverley Baynes of London is visiting with Carolyn Glad. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Glad have the former's cousin Mr. & Mrs. Carl Carlson of Detroit as their guests. Mr. & Mrs. Tim Glad and family leave this week- end with their family to holiday in Duluth, other points in the states and in southern Ontario. Mrs. Gourley Small, the guest of Mr. & Mrs. Forbes Macadam, during the re-union is in Terrace Bay hospital following an injury. Mr. & Mrs. Albert Smith have returned from Ottawa where they attended the convocation at the University of Ottawa. Their grand-daughter Cheryl Ann Poirier received an honor degree - Bachelor of Nursing Science. Cheryl is the daughte of Mrs. L.J. Poirier and the late Dr. Poirier of Sudbury and will remain on the staff of Ottawa General Hospital until fall when she will go to Los Angeles where she has accepted a position. (Bill) Furlonger when he "punched in" after his last day of work before retirement on pension.
