TERRACE BAY NEWS June 1, 1967 Billets Required - for 30 Playground Leaders who will be attending a Playground Training Course in Terrace Bay from Wednesday, June 2Ist, to Saturday, June 24th. WEEKLY REPORT FROM THE SCHREIBER DETACHMENT . OF THE ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE Corp. M. Kulmatycki, commander of Schreiber detachment O.P.P. reports from May 14 to May 20 - 192 duty hours with 3,256 miles patroll- ed. There were three thefts, three break and enters, and two other investigations. One P.D. accident with $50. damage incurred. Fifty-nine vehicles were given safety checks, 19 motorists warned, and 12 charges laid under Ontario Highway Traffic Act. May 28 detachment reports - 144 duty hours with 1549 miles patrolled. Investigations - 2 thefts, 1 disturbance and 2 other investigations. 15 safety checks given on vehicles and 12 motorists warned and 2 charged under O.H.T.A. Five transients were given funds as meal tickets. As of now, all hazardous roving violations will be | strictly enforced. A radio transmitter receiver has been installed in the Schreiber Detachment of O.P.P., which will increase efficiency of the police investigations and co-operation with adjacent detachments making communication and efficiency much more effective. This in stallation offers direct communication with cars on patrol, detachments in Marathon and Nipigon and headquarters in Port Arthur. Licenses for motorcycle drivers will be checked periodically. Motorcycle drivers are warned that a severe penalty for unreasonable noise in the operation of their vehicle can be enforced. A fine from $10. to $100. or possible lose of their license can be incurred. Anyone interested in supplying the above accomm- odations, please contact J. These are urgent requirements, and it is important that we have accommodations for these people in order that they may perform the duties for which they have been hired. .~.
