Page 11 WEEKLY REPORT FROM THE SCHREIBER DETACHMENT . OF THE ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE From April 16 to April 22 the Ontario Provincial Police, Schreiber Detachment under Corp. M. Kul- matycki, in 224 duty hours patrolled 3,847 miles. One traffic property damage accident was reported, 27 vehicles were given safety checks, 5 motorists were warned, and 3 charges laid under the Highway Traffic Act. Thirteen transients were given assistance in meal tickets from the Schreiber Welfare Fund. The general public is advised of the law relating to parking lights, as follows: A motor vehicle, other than a commercial motor vehicle, while standing upon a highway at such times as lights are required by ;this section for the vehicle may, in lieu of the lighting equipment specified in the section may show one light carried on the left side of the vehicle in such a manner as to be clearly visible to the front ,& rear and for a distance of at least 200 feet and to show white to the front and red to the rear of the vehicle, provided that such light shall not be display ed while the motor vehicle is in motion. The Wrenette programme sponsored by the Navy League of Canada for girls aged 14 to I9 years is a completely voluntary training activity which in no manner induces its members into the Armed Forces of Canada. CENTENNIAL CORNER - COMING EVENTS DOMINION DAY - July Ist. has to be a big day in the Centennial celebrations of any Canadian comm- unity and Terrace Bay will be no exception. Plans so far include the opening of Centennial Park and the wind up of the Teen Town Summer Festival which will include a monster dance. FOLK MUSIC -The Lakehead Group of the Folk Art Council, approximately 150 strong, will stage a show in Terrace Bay July 15. The singing and dancing of various groups will be featured in this program. VOYAGEUR CANOE PAGEANT - According to the latest information, the Voyageurs will arrive at the mouth of the Aguasabon River in Terrace Bay at 9.30 a.m. on August |. They will make camp, 1867 style, and will stage races and other events during the day. They will leave for Marathon about 3.00 a.m. August 2. ; This event is truly a race from Edmonton to Montrea so everyone should plan to be on hand to see these adventurers come churning into our beach area on August |. The local Kiwanis Club are making the necessary arrangements. THE PARK - Terrace Bay's Centennial Park is "a- building" again. The forms are in place for the cement work for the fountain and a Lakehead contract- or has been retained to do the stone work. It is expected that bedding plants will be in June 10, so. that groups who have taken on the responsibil- ity for flower beds should be prepared to plant on that day.
