A noted gymnast from Sault Ste.Marie, one of the judges, gave tips on form for further competitions and stated that many of the displays he witnessed that day could well have competed in the Toronto meet. The competitors and students of the High School expressed their appreciation to Mr.Ferguson and Mr. Cvitkovich for assisting with the group. the Thunder Bay Amateur Hockey Association meeting Saturday, May 6, at Port Arthur. It is hoped that* Terrace Bay and Schreiber will combine to enter an Intermediate team in the Norihshore League if there is sufficient interest . RECREATION SUMMER STAFF We have received "some applications for summer employment at the pool and on the playgrounds. However, we would like to receive more from both girls and boys. The dead- line for applications is May 8. Apply now, make your recreation work. QUETICO CENTRE This year the Quetico Centre has offered an extensive program on the ARTS, folk music, modern dance, photography, art etc. On Thursday, May |8, a representative from the Centre will be at the Recreation Office to discuss the various programs. Please contact our office if you or your group is int erested in discussing the programs offered. TOURNAMENTS Recently | met with the various Directors of the Northshore and the following tour- naments for the summer months are scheduled: Event - Men's Fastball Tournament Date - June 30, July | and 2, Location - Red Rock. Playground Track & Field - July 22 week - Manitouwadge. Boys Fastball Tournament - to be announced - Terr- ace Bay. Girls Fastball Tournament - to be announc ed - Red Rock. Boys Baseball Tournament - to be ann ounced - Manitouwadge. Tennis Tournament - Aug. 26 - Marathon. Northshore Swim Meet - August 12 Marathon. Terrace Bay Swim Meet - to be announc- ed - Terrace Bay. Lacrosse Clinics - to be announ- ced - Terrace Bay. Tennis Clinics - to be announc- ed - to be announced. Any new activities you or your group would like to see introduced to the community? It is my intention to try and keep you informed of the many activities which have been planned for your leisure time pursuits by the Recreation Associa~ tion and the verious community groups. FASTBALL Registration forms for minor fastball have been distributed to the schools. It is hoped that all persons wishing to play this summer will return the forms to the Recreation Office by Friday, May I2. The schedule will be played in June, with play offs scheduled in the first week of July. We hope this will allow players to go on holidays without missing any games. If you are interested in coaching a team please contact the Recreation Office . MEN'S FASTBALL A general meeting will be held soon to form teams for the summer. With interest and enthusiasm shown last year, it is hoped the play- ers will be back again for another big summer. MINOR HOCKEY BANQUET | have been informed that the Terrace Bay minor hockey club had another successful season. Their banquet is at 6 p.m. this Saturday at the Moose Hall. Parents attending the banquet are asked to pay at the door. INTERMEDIATE HOCKEY MEETING A general meeting has been called for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in the old curling gallery room, for all per- sons interested in playing Intermediate hockey in 1966-67 season. It is hoped that persons will be selected from this meeting to represent the group at COMMUNITY CHURCH AUXILIARY MEET The ladies Auxiliary to the Community Church met May 1 with Vice-President Mrs. N .Coe presiding. The business meeting brought forth several points . It was agreed to pay expenses for one delegate to the women's conference in Port Arthur, May 26 weekend. The transient fund will be reimbursed and increased. A Rummage Sale is planned for June 9, Friday evening to enable busy mothers to get out and also on Saturday morning, June 10. {see page 13) ee
