April 20, 1967 COUNCIL QUOTES Terrace Bay Council met last Tuesday with the Reeve and all councillors present. Unlike the cities to the west of Terrace Bay where municipal author- ities recently decided it was in the best interests of both Council! and Ratepayers that all meetings be "open" meetings, a "closed" meeting both preceded and followed last Tuesday's "open" meeting. Correspondence included letters from the Recrea- tion Committee re salary increase for an employee-- from the Centennial Committee re the Park--trom the C.G.1.T. asking permission to sell Mother's Day Carnation (granted) and one from the Community Services Committee stating that they were unable to be present at this council meeting but would like to attend the next one. The Clerk reported sending the 1967 capital bud- get for the Hydro Department to Ontario Hydro and requesting information and design for a suitable sign for the outside of the Municipal Building. Building Inspector A.Fraser reported permits issued during March totalled $4,100. The Police Department reported ordering three ve- hicles off the streets for repair--four accidents--one fight stopped--one dangerous driving charge--one break-in (culprits apprehended)--a no license on a motorcycle charge--speeding charges and nineteen complaints investigated. A motion was made to hire two local men as asses- sors. Councillor Desrosier suggested that the lessee of the Bowling Alley contact J.Caccamo with future problems or requests.
