The hamper of groceries raffled was won by Mrs. Forbes Macadam. During intermission the very large audience roared with laughter at the antics of clowns Paddy Duggan and David Bromley. Following the concluding number which was per- formed by Miss Harris, Pam Spikula and Julie Speziale presented a beautiful jewel case to her from the Club. Photo by I.McCuaig CANDLE-LIT ENROLMENT CEREMONY In a cnadle-lit ceremony the following girls were enrolled in the Girl Guides (see photo) -- Marilyn Searles, Laura McParland, Jane Crook, Cathy Anderson, Darlene Desmoulins, Aline Fer- land, Kathy McGuire, Karen Kushnieryk, Sharon Scott and Debby Cook. The girls were inducted by leaders Mrs. Andrea Hill and Mrs.Edna Cocks. The color party were Lola Scott, Susan Dimmery, Karen Guina, Dale Sisson, Sheila McParland, Cathy Bottomley. In her address Mrs.Hill pointed out that, while in Brownies, they are expected to become indepen- dent and assist as much as possible in their homes but as Guides their duty is to help in activities outside the home, in their community. Guiding, she said, is carried on in 67 countries in the world. After the ritual the girls sang several numbers to entertain the large audience of parents and friends. Guides Enrolled MILL RATES SET Schreiber Town Council held a special meeting on April 12 to accept the 1967 assessment roll of $1,952,986 and to study school estimates and con- sider the 1967 budget. The levy is as follows:- Mill Rates - Residential 45.41 - General, Com- merial 48.92. Public School residential 19.11 - _ commercial 21.23. Separate School, residential 22.61 - commercial 25.12. High School, residen- tial 35.53 and commercial 39.47. Estimates for y ear's spending - General, 93,010, Schools - 113,063. Tenders for vehicle insurance were opened and one from Beno Agency accepted.
