Ted Stachiw 1001 with a 250 average. Lew Edmunds 293 and a 248 average. Paul Buso had the high game of the event - 302. SCHREIBER MINOR HOCKEY arch 25 Schreiber Red Wings travelled to Terrace Bay and played the Cougars emerging with an 8-2 win. Scoring for Schreiber: J.Powers , 3 goals; D. Keating and lan Fummerton 2 goals; Shane Walsh 1 goal. Terrace Bay - M.Regis and Hirt each scored 1. Second game - Schreiber Bruins vs. Terrace Bay Thunderbirds and came out with a 7-0 win. Schreiber goalie Kenny Nesbitt gained credit for a shutout with Mike Souliere picking up a hat trick. G.Halonen and D. Morin each scored 2 goals. Terrace Bay PeeWee Allstars travelled to Schreiber to meet Schreiber Lions and were defeated 7-2. Lions goals - John McGrath 2, Bobby McKenna, Paul Mart- | in, Carson Fisher, Ted Speziale and Bill Smilsky scoring 1 each. Tertace Bay goals were Papousek and Edmunds scoring leach. Jack Stokes, New Democratic Party Candidate in Riding of Thunder Bay, has been touring the Highway 11 area. In Beardmore, Mr. Stokes found that residents have a real problem. They have no proper sewage system, and no central water supply. Private wells are running dry, due to Depart- ment of Highways work on road running through town. Citizens melt snow for washing and cleaning purposes and have to fetch drinking water from as far as two miles. Most tho! not all, homes have septic tanks, and overflow pipes must be installed to the river, a consid- erable distance. "In such a situation, the danger of epidemics cannot be overlooked." Mr. Stokes said. "Some action must be taken to correct matters before it is too late. | intend to contact the Ontario Water Resources Commission imenecpataly to see if some- thing can be done.' The town is an Improvement District with the Board appointed by the Depart- ment of Municipal Affairs. The present Board is made up of two representatives from the Pulp and Paper Company Dom- tar, and one from the Department of Highways. There is No representative of local property owners. Some mon ths ago, several cases of diptheria occurred in tue area, and two children died of the disease. Following his visit to Beardmore, Mr. Stokes held a meeting at Camp 40, Abitibi, where over eighty men turned out to hear a discussion on various aspects of New Democratic Party Policy and on Wednesday and Thursday, Mr. Stokes toured Geraldton and LongLac enjoying a social evening with members and supporters in Geraldton.
