After dinner, Mill Manager John Ferrier explained that adverse weather conditions had cancelled out the appearance of an expected guest speaker and a'second choice film ordered from Toronto had fail- ed to arrive. Acting on his own suggestion 'that we make our own fun" he tossed the ball to Mrs .Ferrier, inviting her to be guest speaker. Introduced by Al Pattison, Mrs. Ferrier's impromptu comments were applauded by a receptive audience. The unprepared efforts of the next speaker, Mr. T.Olsen were a bit dubious when some rowdy questioners gained the floor and had to be given the gavel .
