Page 10 SCHREIBER POLICE DEPARTMENT The Schreiber Police Department draws to the attention of all residents, the following information regarding snow mobiles: Is a snow mobile a "motor vehicle" that needs licence plates and a licensed driver? If it is operated on a road or highway, the answer is "yes". A snow mobile is definitely a motor vehicle, within the meaning of the Highway Traffic Act, when it is on a street, road or highway. This means that all regulations applying to cars and motorcyéles on roads or highways also apply to snowmobiles - for example, they must have vehicle permits and licence plates, be covered by insurance and have proper headlights, tail-lights and brakes and be operated by a driver who is at least 16 years old and holds a valid driver's licence. Your attention is drawn to the following amendment to the Highway Traffic Act: Section 4IB (I) No person shall drive a motor vehicle upon a 'highway, (a) unless the windshield and the windows on either side of the compartment containing the steering wheel are in such condition as to afford the driver a clear view to the front and side of the motor vehicle. (b) unless the rear window is in such a condition as to afford the driver a clear view to the rear of the motor vehicle. (2) Clause b of subsection 1 does not apply toa motor vehicle that is equipped with a mirror or mirrors securely attached to the motor vehicle and placed in such a position and maintained in sucha condition as to afford the driver, otherwise than through the rear window, a clearly-reflected view of the roadway in the rear or of any vehicle approaching from the rear. Effective immediately, Section 64 of the Highway Traffic Act will be rigidly enforced within the | Township of Schreiber and reads as follows: (a) upon approaching a stop sign at an inter- section, shall bring the vehicle or car toa FULL STOP ata clearly marked stop line, or, if none, then immediately before entering the nearest crosswalk or, if none, then immediate- ly before entering the inter-section, and TERRACE BAY NEWS January 12, 1967 (b) upon entering the intersection, shall yield the right of way to traffic in the inter-section ' or approaching the intersection on another highway so closely that it constitutes an immediate hazard and having so yielded the right of way may proceed with caution and the traffic approaching the inter- section on another highway. shall yield the right of way to the vehicle so proceeding in the inter- section. On January 5 at Terrace Bay, the Bantams had a game with Marathon where the score was 7-3 in favour of Marathon. If was a good game but Terrace Bay just couldn't get the puck in the net. Scorers for Terrace Bay were Yates assisted by Legault, Brend unassisted, and Legault assisted by Gresdal.
