NEW APPROACH TO GUIDE BADGE TESTS Five Girl Guides of the Terrace Bay Ist. Company held a successful birthday party for eight year old Diane Jones, for which only the cake was made and decorated by Mrs. Jones.' The girls who were being examined for their Hostess Badge, were Brenda Chapman, Georgina Caron, Wendy MacMillan, Susan Whalen, and Maureen Mikus. The Guides prepared all the food for the ten guests and set an attractive table. The Girl Guide Grace "Johnny Appleseed" was written out by Wendy MacMillan and sung by all those present, including Mrs. Paul Gagnon and Mrs. Walter Klug who had been invited to test the girls for this badge. While the party was in full swing, capably handled by the guides, the ladies were able to relax with tea and cake and enjoy the festive occasion "from the sidelines". After the serious business of eating, the Guides organized numerous games, for which there were small prizes. Guide Capt ain, Shirley Caron now hopes that after this first successful attempt at "on the job" testing, more mothers of guides will be willing to allow the Guide leaders and Hostess badge: TERRACE BAY NEWS December 8, 1966 Tax Savings & Retirement Did you know that many people in Canada today are reaping the benefits of substantial Income Tax savings by contributing to a plan that guarantees a monthly retirement income for life!
