MOOSE HALL SPEAKER LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY RECREATION BRIEFS - by Buck BOWLING -A major tournament will be held in Terrace Bay starting on Nov.28 through to Dec.4. This tournament is known as the Tournament of Roses, sponsored by the Ford Motor Company of Canada, and is slated to be the largest tournament across Canada. It is open to all league bowlers and there is no entry fee. This tournament is set up as follows: 1. 100% all-league bowlers - free entry, to bowl during regular league play. 2. Bowlers with high total scores advance to Phase 2 for the house round roll-off. An entry fee of $1.00 per bowler, and prizes will be offered in this section. This roll-off will commence December 5 to January 8. . Top 10% from the zone roll-off (100 bowlers per zone) will enter the national finals to be held in the Rosebowl Lanes in Montreal. Top prizes being offered include an all-expense trip to Expo '67, 8 Ford Mustangs and coloured T.V.s. HOCKEY := A boys' Hockey School will be held on Saturday, November 19, commencing at 10.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m., at the Terrace Bay Arena. This Hockey School is open to boys 6 years to 14 years of age. The instructors will include several Junior and Senior hockey players. There is no registration fee and this is a courtesy service of the Terrace Bay Minor Hockey Association. The only equipment required by the boys is a stick and skates. Any boys interested must register prior to the Hockey School at the Recreation Office, and last minute registrations will not be accepted. The format for this Hockey School will cover defensive and offensive hockey, skating, shooting and passing, and other timely tips. The Minor Hockey registrations are still being accepted for any boy who wants to play hockey this winter. The final deadline will be Saturday, November I9. CHRISTMAS PARTY - The Kimberly-Clark Pulp & Paper Co. has announced that they will again sponsor the annual Christmas party for children.
