Page 14 SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING HELD BY LADIES' CURL- ING CLUB AND MANY ITEMS DISCUSSED The semi-annual meeting of the Terrace Bay Ladies' Curling Club was held in the Club Lounge on Monday, Octoner 17th with thirty-six members attending. It is expected that there will be twelve rinks curl- ing in the evening league and-itvis hoped that an afternoon league will be formed. However, it was felt that more interest should be shown in this lea- gue. The following items were discussed and voted upon as noted:- 1. Nights for ladies curling will be every Tuesday and Thursday. The afternoon league, if formed, will probabl y operate on Wednesday. (President Ollie Chapman and Draw Committee Chairman, Phyl. Kelty, will meet with the ladies curling in the after- noon league and discuss and decide their method of play and day or days of curling). 2. Division Curling will be played for the Seagram and Laskin Trophies, with the Seagram for "A" Division and Laskin's Trophy for "B" division. -3. Since the present Club Championship Trophy retires this year, a new trophy is being secured and a "round Robin" type of play will decide the winner of the Club Championship, with all rinks curling in the evening league participating. 4. The Molson Trophy will be awarded to the win- ner of the afternoon league. 5. An open mixed bonspiel will be held on Novem- ber 4, 5 and 6th. Full details are printed in the Men's Club news on page nine of this issue. 6. Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Nov.8, and 10 will be set aside for practice games and instruc- tion to new curlers for both the evening and after- noon leagues. 7. Tentative starting date for league curling is Tuesday, November 15th. 8. Membership fees will remain at $14 with all fees being paid prior to the first scheduled league game. Everyone is reminded that they must be members of the Recreation Association. 9. Norma Crockford was elected Club Delegate to the Northwestern Ontario Ladies Curling Association. 10. The Northwestern Ontario Ladies Curling Play- downs will be held in Terrace Bay on January 22, 23, 24and 25th, 1967. Zone playoffs will be held in Manitouwadge prior to this date. It was pointed out that our zone extends from Schreiber in the west TERRACE BAY NEWS October 20, 1966 to White River in the East. 11. A donation was approved for the Terrace Bay Centennial Committee's new Park. 12. A bake sale will be held on October 29th and all members will be canvassed for baking. It was pointed out that additional funds will be raised to help offset the cost of hosting the Northwestern Ontario Playdowns in January. 13. A committee of P.Kelty, E.Burns and P.Wel- lings were instructed to continue their search for suitable sweaters to be purchased by the Club and to be worn by the rink representing our club in Zone | and Northwestern playoffs, this and in succeeding years. If you are new in town or wish to curl this year and have not yet completed an application form, its not too late. Everyone is welcome. Just phone Ollie Chapman at 3289.
