Nasturtiums were the flower of the day and bird houses and collections of wild flowers and displays of vegetables were also judged. During the growing season periodic inspections of individual gardens took place and a trophy was NEWS awarded in both divisions, together with second and third prizes. In the Jr.Division Mavrice Cadieéx won the trophy presented by Union Local 665 and a watch; Veronica Hermes won second prize of $5.00 from the Loy al Order of Moose and Steven Chapman third prize of a $5 share in the Community Credit Union. Werner Hermes placed first in the Senior Division with Donna Chapman second and Helen Maleshewski third. The Horticultural Society junior award went to Celine Landry for her Vegetable Display while Karen Hiebert received the Senior award for her collection of Wild Flowers, all of which were gathered in the Terrace Bay area during the past two months. The Society shield for high est aggregate of points in either Junior or Senior Divisions was presented to Donna Chapman who won first prize for her carrots, nasturtiums, vegetable display, window box and bird house and second prize for peas and nasturtiums.
