Page 4 COUNCIL QUOTES A very brief meeting of Terrace Bay Town Coun- cil was held on February 22nd in the Council Chambers . Reeve Adamo and councillors R.Sinotte, W. Kurylo, K.MacLeod and D.Desrosiers were in attendance as were Clerk-Treasurer, W.F . Strutt and Clerk W.Hanley. A motion passed to pay the following accounts:- Library $702.03 - Hydro $6,987.72 - Township $18,246.27 and Snack Bar $4,067.13. A previous By-law in connection with the Cen- tennial Project was repealed and a new one will be drawn up for the new project. A committee meeting was held immediately fol- loring the town meeting. In reporting on activities in the women's curling last week it was not mentioned that the Peggy Wellings'rink won the first event in the RED ROCK bonspiel . Mr .and Mrs.J.Kelty have returned from a holi- day in Mexico City, Acapulco and Mazatlan. Mrs. A.R.Ostling is recuperating at home after being hospitalized in Duluth, Minnesota. W.J.Adamo, chairman and D.J.Stewart, assis- tant superintendent, Terrace Bay Township Hydro System were among 1,500 delegates attending the 57th annual meeting of the Ontario Municipal Electric Association and the Association of Muni- cipal Electrical Utilities in Toronto this week. Delegates represented more than 300 municipal electrical utilities across the province. President of the OMEA, composed of utility commissioners, is Dr.R.H.Hay, chairman, Kingston Public Util- ities Commission. Stanley Webster, general man- ager and secretary of Tillsonburg PUC is president of the AMEU, representing managers and senior staff of member utilities. During the three-day gathering delegates con- sidered several major policy recommendations to Ontario Hydro and discussed important topics such as rates, finance, employee relations and improv- ed electrical service. This year's convention marked the 60th anniver- sary of the founding of Hydro in Ontario. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church will meet at 8 p.m. sharp on March 7th in the Church Hall for a short business meeting. The Catholic Women's League will join the group for a discussion led by Rev.Husser and Father Galla- gher . A question and answer period will follow and those attending are asked to prepare questions be- forehand. Refreshments will be served.
