A party was held at the home of Elaine Zwir for Pat when friends from Schreiber and Terrace Bay pre sented her with a watch and a kitchen clock. Hostesses of the affair were Elaine Zwir and Evelyn Falzetta. A stag was held for Pete at the Moose Hall when a group of his co-workers and friends presented him with a wallet and money. Hec McLeod with Doug Knight, Rocky Gavin and George Churney captured the second event by defeating former Terracite Joe Charbon in a last rock duel. Meanwhile Thor Olsen with Len Crockford, Jim Beddard and 'Pierre' Boucher were winning the marbles in the 3rd event. The 'Other' Circle Terrace Bay's representatives in the North Shore Playdowns at Manitou- wadge almost made it to the British Consuls Northwestern Playdowns. Lou Duquette with Len Crockford, Dan Kenney and Carl LeBlanc, were undefeated right up until their last game against Marathon who were also unbeaten. Marathon emerged vic- torious in a close fought game. Red Rock, Nipigon and Manitouwadge were the other towns represented in this event. While Lou and his rink were uphold- ing the honour of Terrace Bay's younge set, Charlie Sitch, John Steen and Willie Adamo were doing their best on behalf of the 'oldsters'. Curling in Terrace Bay against Hal Lawson's Marathon quartet in the senior men's playdowns they won their first game but lost the next two. The last game was a close one that could easily have gone either way. Considering the fact that they were curling without their skip (Rune Ostling was unavoidably absent), Charlie and his boys did ex- ceptionally well. Glen Pattyson, a newcomer to Terrace Bay, deserves special mention (Continued page 5)
