BRAY HEADS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Officers for the current year were elec- ted at the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce held on January 20th in the Recrea- tion Centre. The new executive are as follows:- President, W.R.Bray - Vice Presi- dent, D.Rafalant -- Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs, S.Hodgkiss and Council Members, S. Boyd, Sr., W.E.Cavanaugh, T.Costa, L. Crandlemire, S.Hodgkiss, J.Kelty, W.McMick- ing and Mrs. I.Marsh. The retiring President, Neil Cornthwaite, presented his annual report and the group decided to sponsor a dinner for visiting Mayors and Reeves who will be in town to attend the Snow Festival on February 4 - 5 and 6th. The dinner will be held on Sun- day evening at the conclusion of festivities and all Chamber members are urged to make plans to attend. Mr. Bray attended the Lakehead Chamber of Commerce Annual meeting on Monday, Jan. 24th. COUNCIL QUOTES The Terrace Bay Council met on Thursday January 27 in the Council Chambers. Reeve W.Adamo and Councillors D.Desrosiers, K. MacLeod, W.Kurylo attended and Clerk---Treas- urer W.F.Strutt and Clerk W.Hanley were borrowing of funds to carry on town busi- ness pending tax collections. An amendment to the present dog by-law is being considered. Permission was granted to the Golf Club to move a building from the Department of Highways premises to the Golf Course. A donation of $50 was granted to Teen Town to aid with their Snow Festival and a letter was read from the Festival Committee requesting that the .Fire Truck take part in the Float Parade. Councillor D. oe ne eee was asked to look into this matter. Letters were read by Councillor W. anys in connection with the Child Welfare Board of the Lakehead. Reeve Adamo instructed Council that the Curfew By-Law is under consideration. Representing the Centennial Committee, Mr. W.E.Cavanaugh and Mr. H.P.Ratchford were present to discuss the proposed pro- ject. Council approved the Park-Fountain complex which is to be erected on MacDonald Avenue facing Highway 17. Council meetings will be held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday in every month at 4.30 p.m. and the public are invited to attend. Accounts were passed for payment as follows:- Library $185.25 - Hydro $1,133.70 Township - $32,608.29 - Snack Bar $2,315.58 and Recreation $2,544.87.
