KIMBERLY-CLARK EMPLOYEES' CHARITY FUND NATIONAL ELECTRICAL WEEK - FEB. 6 TO 12 SPEED SKATING - - On Friday, February 4th, the February 3, 1966 WELCOME 1 OO: LHE SNOW FESTIVAL by Buck Matiowsky Wherever you go in Terrace Bay - Barber Shop, Hotel, Stores, people are talking about the Snow Festival which is being held on February 4th, 5th and 6th. In some instances, adults are showing more enthusiasm than some of the teenagers. The co-operation and interest by local business firms, fraternal organizations and service clubs, churches and schools, has been excellent and this event is on its way to ultimate success. When the teenagers of this town first planned this programme, they had not anticipated as large a programme; however, as they progressed, new ideas became apparent. It has moulded into the largest event of the year in Terrace Bay - an event that the entire community will participate in - and also something we can be very proud of. Truer words were never spoken when we say - "The Best in the Northwest." A great deal of preparation has gone into this programme and we are counting on the support of this community. To the writer, this Snow Festival will be an experimental project for this year, but we are looking for bigger and better things in 1967 for the Centennial celebrations. We are certain this event will become an annual project and will also be the outstanding activity in the Centennial year for Terrace Bay. There are many unanswered questions that people have been phoning the Recreation Office with con- cerning this Snow Festival and we are th erefore clarifying the whole programme: Friday - February 4th. Snow Festival opens with speed skating races in the Arena for all age groups, boys and girls, at 3 p.m. The opening race will be for all pre- school child- ren, any age, followed by public school age to high school age children. The prizes are very luc- rative and will vary from 50¢ to $1. per race and will be allotted for Ist, 2nd and 3rd place. Any boys and girls who are interested in racing should be at the Arena on Friday afternoon as soon as they can get out of school. A course will be laid out am the Arena ice and the races will be run in laps. BROOMBALL - - The activity following the speed skating is an exhibition game of broomball between the High School teaching staff and the combined teams of Separate and Public School teaching staff at the Arena at 5.30 p.m. This is a challenge game whereby the High School staff is determined to prove that they are superior to the elementary schools staff.
