Mr .Harness, on behalf of the friends gathered, presented a unique gift--literally yards of money-- which was artfully concealed in a gift wrapped box from which extended a wide white ribbon. Mr ..McCuaig was asked to pull the ribbon and start walking and as he did the ribbon with bills attach- ed rolled the length of the hall behind him. In response Mr .McCuaig thanked those who were present and said to be happy and successful in work one must have the co-operation of one's fellow workers and he had always had this. Adding to the happiness of the occasion was the presente of all Mr.and Mrs.McCuaig's family with the ex- ception of their younger son Chal who was writing examinations in Winnipeg and was unable to make the trip home. A family dinner was held in the couple's home the same day when many personal gifts were pre- sented. Following the presentation and speeches dancing was enjoyed with music supplied by Allan Bourk and H.W.Gellert and the pleasant arene ended with lunch. ANNUAL VESTRY MEETING HELD W.E.Collinson was appointed Rector's Warden at the Annual vestry meeting of St.John's Anglican Church held in the church hall. Rev. R.J.S.Inshaw was chairman and W.G.Furlonger vestry clerk. Officers were elected as follows:- P.R.Bailey, church treasurer - G.H.Birch, people's warden - W.G.Furlonger, vestry clerk and envelope record- er. A nominating committee of W.R.Turner and Mrs. Turner, Godfrey Birch and W.G.Furlonger was formed to present a slate of officers in Decem- ber for the year 1967. The various annual reports presented, including the financial statement given by the treasurer, P. R.Bailey, indicated a successful year completed. The Rector's report showed continued growth within the parish. He noted an increase in church attendance and in the number of per sons confirmed, in spite of the loss of many families or individuals through death or removal from the parish. Two memorials were dedicated during the year, the first a processional cross given by Mrs. T.H. Bottomley in memory of her husband and dedicated by His Grace the Archbishop of Algoma at the Con- firmation service in July. The second, a funeral pall made by Mrs. W.Brefitt, the former Ardeth Birch, and given by Mrs.T.Wilson and son Wayne in memory of Theodore Wilson, father of Wayne and husband of Mrs.Wilson. This was dedicated by Rev. Inshaw at the Christmas Eve Service. In October, during a luncheon for visiting members| of Superior Deanery and clergy, Mrs. R.E.Gray was congratulated on her appointment as eee of the Deanery. The names of those of the parish who had died in the past year were read and remembered with a moment's silence and prayer. In closing the rector thanked the church officers and members for their :loyalty and support. The meeting closed with prayer by Rev.Inshaw and was followed by lunch served by the evening group. Mrs.Bill Cocks presided for the meeting. Minutes were read and approved and the corres- pondence was read by Mrs.Roland Stortini. Father J.M.Cano spoke briefly on Ecumenism. Mrs .Coeks presented Mrs. S.Kusik with her past president's pin. Convenors reports were given: Spiritual, Mrs.G.McParland informed members that the discussion club will meet Monday at 8.15 in the Guild Hall. Education, Mrs. M.J.McGrat reported Christmas Treats had been given to the school children. She urged members to save used stamps for missions.
