CURLING CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY The Terrace Bay Curling Club held their Annual Christmas party on Saturday evening, December 18th in the Lounge. Members and guests danced to the music of the Ramblers. Christmas carols were sung. Highlight of the evening was the appearance of jolly old St.Nick. Novelty prizes were given to.zarious mem- bers. Winners of turkeys were Mrs.Gauthier of Schreiber, Mrs.Sara Jones and Mrs. A. Regis of Terrace Bay. Lunch was served by members of the ladies curling club. Department of Tourism & Information stating where Canadian Government Travel Bureau of- fices are located and where brochures can be distributed. Already a request has been received asking for tourist information. The Chamber were advised a hospitality seminar will be held in Nipigon on April 20. A letter was received from Teen Town re- garding the Snow Festival to be held in Feb- ruary and asking for the Chamber*s support. Jack Kelty will head a nominating com- mittee consisting of Les Crandlemire and Lionel Waghorn. After a discussion on postal services the Postmaster, who was-present, advised that complaints about mail service be written to him and he will take steps. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NAMES NOMINATING COMM, A council meeting of the Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce, chaired by president Neil Cornthwaite, was held on Thursday even- ing at 7.30 p.m., in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre. Mr.Cornthwaite reported on the Upper Lake Superior Council meeting which he and Mr.Roy Bray attended in the Lakehead. A brief to be presented to the govern- ment by the Lakehead Chamber of Commerce, regarding development of Ouimet Canyon as a natural attraction, was endorsed by the local group. As the proposed Centennial project was not favorably received a Centennial conmittee has been formed to bring in a new project. This was discussed. Mr. Cornthwaite read a letter from the CHRISTMAS PARTY HELD BY SILVER BIRCH CHAPTER Members of Silver Birch Chapter, 0.E£.S., No.364 met in the Star Room of the Temple Hall for the first time on December 13th with Hrs.Flora Bryson, Worthy Matron and Rev, T.G.Husser, Worthy Patron, presiding for a short business meeting. Following the meeting member's husbands and escorts joined with the group for a Christmas party and gift exchange. Refreshments were served by convenor Mrs. R. Harris and all the officers.
