Page 8 COUNCIL QUOTES (Cont'd from Pg. 1) Fire Chief and he had accepted on a six month trial basis. This passed with Council's approval. Estab- lishing six weekend relief and work schedules to- gether with pay rates were also passed. Councillor Cavanaugh felt his conscience could not let him vote for a temporary Fire Chief and so abstained. He feared some disaster when there would be a slip up. Councillor Thompson appreciated his anxiety but was sure it would and could work. Councillor Cavanaugh reported on his recent trip to the Lakehead when he had presented the Chamber of Commerce's brief at the hearings held in connection with the discontinuation of the C.P. "Dominion". He noted some very strong briefs on the subject had been presented, particularly the one by the Liberal Association, and felt some solu- tion could be arrived at such as the Government's use of the C.N.R. trains. Councillor Fraser, reporting on details of the Fire Department, noted that with the removal of Ralph Cole to become volunteer Fire Chief, a vacancy would be made in the Volunteer Brigade. He submitted the name of Jack Caccamo who had volunteered. As one of the bigger taxpayers in town and his convenient location to the Fire Hall, Council was pleased to note his interest. Reeve W. Adamo presided over the meeting, Cavanaugh, E.Brown, V.Thompson, A. Fraser and Secretary W. F. Strutt and Clerk W. Hanley. SKI-00 the light-footed snowmobile All new for '66. New super-sleek styling.
