FIRE, DRILL INSPECTION HELD AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS Directed by Fire Chief Hofland both Terr - ace Bay elementary schools were inspec - ted and judged on the speed with which the students evacuated the premises and shields presented to the winning classes. The public school was cleared in 41 1/2 seconds and the shield was presented to Mrs. L. West, grade one teacher, by Mrs. Verne Hopper. The principal, Mr. Don Brisc oe is also shown in the photo on page one. In St. Martin's School the premises were cleared in 44 seconds and Mrs. D. Boudreau presented the shield to Mrs. Rajotte teacher of the Grade 3 class. Mr.R. Kenney is the principal of St. Martin's School. Judges for the affair were Mrs. Thor Olsen Mrs.R. Harris, Mrs.S. LOCAL CHAMBER TO PREPARE BRIEF Due to an insufficient number of members the Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce werg4 unable to hold their scheduled general meet- ing Thursday evening in the Recreation Centre and reverted to a meeting of their Council. Neil Cornthwaite chaired the meet ing with Margaret Simmer recording A letter is to be written to the Dept. of Highways thanking them for moving the busi- ness sign formerly in front of the Norwood Motel nearer to Selkirk Avenue, but that the resulting location causes more confusion' than before.
