HARRY WARD (Continued from page 8) a brief illness. Born in Kentville, N.S. in 1891, he received his early education there, going to Fort William in 1912. Employed by the CpR he retired from their Fort Wil- liam Division as Safety Supervisor in 1956. During World War 1 he served with the 52nd Battalion, Rail- road Division. Married to the former Carrie Eileen Smith in 1920 in Fort William, he was predeceased by his wife in 1958. Moving to Terrace Bay to make his home with his daughter Mrs .Fred McMillan in 1958, Mr.Ward was a quiet family man, a keen gardener in summer, ac- tive in the Horticultural Society and he had an avid interest in sports, particularly baseball and hockey. He was a member of the B.O.R.T.in Fort William. Surviving are a daughter Elva, Mrs.Fred McMillan in Terrace Bay and a son, Alan, in Fort William, seven grandchildren and relatives in the east. Funeral services were held in Fort William on Sat- urday morning with interment in Mountain View Cemetery. LIBERAL LADIES ELECT OFFICERS Mrs.C.Todesco was elected president of the newly formed North Shore Women's Liberal Association at a recent meeting in Schreiber. Mrs.Todesco is a retired elementary school teacher and wife of general mer- chant Chas.Todesco of Rossport. - Other officers are Mrs.D'Arcy McGuire, Ist vice- president - Mrs.Frances Kerrigan, 2nd vice-president Mrs.J.A.Kennedy (Terrace Bay), 3rd vice-president- Mrs.H.Bouchard (Terrace Bay)and Mrs.Stanley Kusik (Schreiber) recording secretaries - Mrs.J.C .Campbell historian. Mrs .Ruth Middleton, president of the Port Arthur Women's Liberal Assoc. and Mrs.Angela Henderson, were here to assist with the organizing. Mrs.Cosgrove is the oldest parishioner in Holy Angels Church and one of the oldest members of the Lady Firemen Lodge. Mrs.Sam McLean of Marathon visited her niece, Mrs.B.Mullins and brether W. Ballard. Members answered roll call at the W.1. meeting September 23, 1965 UNITED CHURCH WOMEN PLAN PROJECTS Convenors for the summer tourist baking project of the United Church Women reported it most successful at the regular meeting in the Church Hall. Mrs.T. P.Whent presided and the devotional period was take by Mrs.Alex Gordon. Members were asked to make cash donations at the next meeting for pillow case material. Donations were made to the Bursary Fund and the John Milton Society for the Blind. A Retreat will be held at Loon Lake on October 2 and those wishing to attend are to contact either the president or the secretary. Extensive plans were made to celebrate the Church 80th anniversary on October I7 and two former minis- ters are expected to take part in the program. A A home-cooked ham and bean supper, to be held in the Town Hall was planned for Oct.I| and Nov.20 was set as the date for the Bazaar. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETS. on Sept.14 with garden bouquets to be given to sick and shut-ins. The motto for the meeting was "If you plant a seed of character in the home it will bloom in the community. Correspondence, read by Mrs.C. Todesco, included twelve cards of thanks for various kindnesses. Members wishing to attend the area convention in Rainy River are asked to notify Mrs.Wesley Miller. The president stated onl y three resolutions are slated for consideration. A "Safety with People" program was discussed and the members' banquet was planned for November . Miss Cathy O'Brien, who has accepted a position in Pembroke was entertained by a group of friends whq met in the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Russell McBride. Carole Lalonde was co-hostess and, on behalf of the others, presented a steam iron and many small personal gifts to Cathy. Present were Mesd. W.G.Furlonger is in Windsor attending a railway carmen's convention.
