The Reeve invited a resident attending the meeting to speak. Her remarks took the form of commenda- tion and recommendation. She praised the town as a place of beauty but pointed out areas for improvement or in need of better maintenance. Specifically men- tioned were the untidy appe arance of the shopping plaza; weeds allowed to flourish b etween curb and pavement in certain areas; grass cut but no trimming done (especially on recreation property); boulevards unsightly; rubber mats at Arena should be replaced; Arena very dirty. Council thanked the lady and indicated certain plans were already in motion to remedy the situation. Correspondence included:- a letter asking Coun- cil to suggest or support a site for the Home for The Aged; (no action was recommended) a letter with more comments on the Mill Road situation; a Jetter of resignation from cemetery caretaker G..Valiquette; a letter from the High School Board on the matter of debenture on home purchased by them stating that if Gouncil accepts responsibility the Board will a- bide by their decision. ..not to issue a debenture; a letter from the solicitor on Moose Lodge assessment. Acting on this matter a motion was made to write off business tax levied against them. The contest rules called for awards con- sisting of ten $50. vacation bonuses if a Company- wide objective of 200 safe days without a lost time accident could be attained. On July 10th at 8:00 a.m., the employees at the Terrace Bay Mill completed 200 consecutive days without a lost time accident. : On July 12th the draw for the $500. was made in the Engineering-Trades lunchroom with about 100 employees present.
