Meanwhile in PeeWee House league action the Bruins and the Leafs will play their deciding game on Friday night with the winner meeting the Hawks in the finals. The Hawks and Canadians will practice Wednesday evening from 5.30 to 6.30 P.M. The Terrace Bay Bantam Allstars are still very much in the playoff picture. Last Friday they de- feated Nipigon 5 - 2 in Nipigon to win the series two games to one. Rennett and Daly each fired two: goals and Phillips a single for Terrace Bay. Marke- wich and Sutherland scored for Nipigon. On Sunday the Bantams travelled to White River in the first game of a total goals to count series and defeated White River by a 7-3 score. Sitko and Daly led the scoring for the locals, each scoring twice with singles going to Phillips, Cadieux and Papousek. Linklater was the big gun for White River with two goals and Deluce added a single. MANY ATTEND SYMPHONY CONCERT A fine evening of cultural music was enjoyed by the people of Terrace Bay and district on Saturday when the Lakehead Symphony Orchestra presented a concert in the Highschool Auditorium. Forty-five of their Orchestra under the directon of Mr.C.H. Bateman travelled down to present an excellent and varied program. Giving a short summary of each number Mr. Bate- man opened with the Grand March from "Aida" to be followed by the Overture from Bohemian Girl and Andante Cantabile from the Fifth Symphony. Concert Master Jack Kirkup was introduced as guest soloist and was very well received. A surprise artist on:the program appeared as Mrs.Ellen Hodgkiss of Terrace Bay conducted Handel's Minuet '"Bere- nice". On behalf of Terrace Bay Kiwanis Club Inc., sponsors of the Orchestra in their Terrace Bay even- ing, Mr.N.Cornthwaite expressed the gratitude of those present to Mr.Bateman and the members of his orchestra, and also to Kimb erly-Clark Pulp & Paper Company for their support of the event. Responding Mr.Bateman said he had found it a most appreciative audience and hoped they could continue their pre- sent concerts. COMPANY PRESIDENT ADDRESSES GROUP Mr.George L.Carruthers, President of Kimb erly- Clark of Canada was guest speaker Wednesday evening when Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Co. Lid., held their annual Management Night in the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel. A very comprehensive study on the origin of paper had been made by Mr. Carruthers who dated the discovery of its existence back as far as 24 A.D.in China. From China the history travelled westward across the world. Slides were shown to illustrate many early types of mater- ials and equipment used. Mr «Carruth ers was accompanied from Toronto by his wife and Mr.Joe Wig, Vice President and News March 4, 1965 General Manager in charge of operations for Kim- berly-Clark Pulp and Paper Co.Ltd. As Master of Ceremonies, Mr.John Ferrier, Mill Manager, wel- comed the guests and thanked Mr.Carruthers for his interesting discourse on the subject. FILM SEEN BY TERRACE BAY NURSES Thursday evening in the Community Church Hall Terrace Bay Nurses attending a showing of the film "Transportation of the Injured" through the courtesy of Cyanamid of Canada Limited. A business meeting followed in which it was de- cided to leave the Tuck Shop funds for consideration at the next meeting. The annual dinner was sche- duled for the month of May, the date to be decided at the convenience of the speaker. Invitations will be sent to Schreiber and Marathon nurses once the date is set. Collective bargaining was briefly discussed. This topic will be more thoroughly gone into at a future meeting. A note of thanks was to be forwarded to Helen D'Arcy and Mary Leagult for their donation to the Tuck Shop. Lunch was served at the end of the meeting. LEGION LADIES MEET "Sunday evening the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. . 223, Ladies Auxiliary held a general meeting in the Legion Hall, presided over by Mrs.Lorette Solly. Fourteen members were present. Mrs.Jean Fisher recorded and the financial statement was given by Mrs. Stella Gusul. Mrs.Bea Fawcett was installed as Second Vice President. Delegates to the District meeting March 27 in Nipigon will be the President and Vice President, Mrs.Solly and Mrs.Joyce Mercier. Five new mem- bers were accepted. The Pot of Gold was won by Mrs. Sadie Benko, The next meeting of the executive will be on March II at the home of Mrs.Jean Fisher, Kenogami Rod. A Fun Bonspiel was held by Branch 223 of the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Satur- day evening in the Curling Club. A new trophy, Shell of Canada Ltd., donated by Rolly Sinotte, district agent, was presented to the winning rink, skipped by Cliff Wood with Ricky Johnson, Joyce Mercier and Dene Clancy. Each member of the rink received an individual curling ashtray. Runner-up rink was skipped by Hec MacLeod with Inge Schmei dchenJack Little and Floyd LeBlanc. Novelty prizes were also awarded to Dot Coupal and Dorothy Ballentine. Adjourning to the Legion Hall a social evening was » enjoyed and a tasty buffet supper served by members of the Ladies Auxiliary.
