No .52 YEAR-END MEETING OF TOWNSHIP COUNCIL Administration of accounts, appointments and purchases for 1965 concluded the affairs of Council as they met Tuesday, December 22 in the Terrace Bay Municipal offices. Presiding at his retiring meeting, Reeve J.P.Heenan was assisted by Clerk W.Hanley and Councillors Brown, Thompson and Fraser. Correspondence included season's greetings ex- tended by many departments and a reply to Reeve Heenan that a Company house would continue to be available for a Recreation Director, providing he were a married man. Snack Bar Accounts for the month of Decemb er were approved in the amount of $3,561.47 and for the Recreation totalling $6,025.95. Perusing the minutes of the last Recreation Committee meeting, Council discussed committee appointments. A motion approved Boxing Day as a Civic holiday. A bid from Spadoni Brothers Limited in Schreiber for a th ree-quarter ton GMC Hydro Utilities truck at $2,037.35 and ladder at $1,942.50, was accep- ted by Council. BIEARCATS The next Senior hockey game slated for Terrace Bay Arena will be on Sunday, January 3rd at 1:30 p.m., and will pit the league-leading Marathon Mercuries against the runner-up Port Arthur Bear- cats. The Mercuries forged into first place in the Senior league with a 7 - 5 victory over Red Rock last Sunday evening, though they were short-handed. With a full squad out for the balance of the year, the Mercuries should have no trouble in clinching the Senior title if they continue to play up to par. Don't miss this battle for first place on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS PLANNED Among the celebrations planned for New Year's Eve in the district area gala dance, with noise makers, hats, etcetera, in the Moose Hall and a 'members only' party in the Curling Club Lounge. For the first time in many years no dance has been arranged for the auditorium in Terrace Bay but the Kinsmen Club of Schreiber are sponsoring their an- nual New Year's Eve Ball .. (Continued page 2)
