SIMON The funeral of the late W.B. (Wally) Simon, whose death occurred on March 9th at the age of 73, was conducted on March 12 in St.Andre United Church by Rev. Fraser Muldrew. J.Gordon, with the senior choir, led in Singing Jesu, The Very Thought Of Thee and Abide With Me. Pallbearers were G.Birch, F,.Harness, W.Gerow, J.Stitt, W.Wilson and G.Gordon, Interment was in Schreiber Ceme- tary. Immediate survivors are his wife, the for- mer Kathleen Walker and son Bruce, of Schrei- ber, and two brothers, Doug.of Brockville and Morrey of Tweed. The Masonic Order, the Oddfellows Lodge and the Bro.of Railway Trainmen all paid their respects to their late brother at private ceremonies in the Gawley Funeral Chapel prior to the Church service. Wally --- to everyone in Schreiber - was that rare person, born with perfect co-ordination, which makes the outstanding athlete. He play ed professional ball and hockey and could have been equally successful in rugby 'or lacrosse. Coming to Schreiber in 1911 he was employed as trainman, retiring as conductor in 1955. In the intervening years he was a bulwark of 'hockey and ball in Schreiber and, in later years, an ardent supporter and active partici pant in all conservation movements in the area He was also a life member of the curling club and, as long as his health permitted, an official at thé various bonspiels. After his | re-tirement from the CPR Wally established an insurance business, his office on the main street affording him a first hand view of local affairs and the opportunity to discuss with passersby, the possible importance of decisions made in each event, Mo monument, no epigraph, will perpetuate Wally'ts memory, but he will live forever in the recollection of his wry comments.
