FIGURE SKATING CLUB PRESENT APRIL IN PARIS To the theme "April in Paris" the Terrace Bay Fig- ure Skating Club introduced their 9th Annual Ice Frolics Friday and Saturday evenings in the Arena to a very appreciative audience. Under the direction of Club Professional, Mrs.Barbara Hutcheon, the choreography provided many variations of the French Theme on ice. The Senior girls opened with "So This is Paris" and featured Elizabeth Hayes, Shirley Phillips, Cheryl Duncan, Marie Delaronde, Mona D'Amours, Linda Hayes, Marcia Hamilton, Molly Harris, Cathy Jo Cotton and Pamela Cumming. Terry Delaronde was the "Pride of Paris" in the first snappy solo of the evening. M.C., Mr.Jim Cumming introduced the delightful performers beginning with "Parasols on Parade"with Kathy Fawcett, Phyllis Turner, Lois Galvin, Claudie Stevens, Linda Helmink, Judy and Jane Chopty, Paulette Duquette, Alice and Anita Stuart, Jean Tychoniak, Kerry Waghorn, Darlene Suo, Marilyn Kujbida, Jackie Turner and Leslie Cotton and featur-| ed Rosemary Pattison. A pleasant duet by Shirley Phillips and Linda Hayes was followed by little Leslie Ward, Linda Dejonghe, Michelle Newell, Sally Turner and Norma Phillips, the youngest skater in the Club, was featured. Madamoiselle De Paris was interpreted by Molly Harris in her solo before twins Jane and Judy Chopty were escorted by gallants Victor Demecha and Robt. D'Amours for a Gay Paree Quartette. A smart pre- cission number followed with Linda Woodruff, Gail Simmer, Nancy Spillane, Jeanne Stevens, Carol Fawcett, Mary McLeod,Judy Ollen=Bittle, Cathy Thorpe, Shirley Winters, Cecile Stuart, Pat Kelty, Jackie Turner, Cathy West, Ann Boudreau, Patty Thorsteinson and Joan Belliveau . Marcia Hamilton and Marie Delaronde were smooth in their duet and a loudly applauded appearance of the "Beatles" found Greg Chesley, Joe Papineau, Gordon Phillips and Gary Suo in the role of the famous quartette . Miss Jennifer Wilkin again dazzled her audience with a polished performance to the Nutcracket Suite. Jennifer, holder of both Canadian and American Gold Medals, has recently returned from the Cana- dian Figure Skating Championships. She has been Northern Ontario Sr.Ladies Champion th ree times and Western Canada Sr.Ladies Champion. The Junior Finale brought out all the younger ska- ters, led by Terry Delaronde, io take their well- deserved bow before intermission. The Can Can found the Senior Girls returning in the famous French Dance = Jane Boudreau joining the group this time. Mrs. Albert Morris and daughter Jacqueline spent the weekend in Lively, Ont. - Jacqueline remaining for a longer visit. Mrs .Bob Gray has returned from visiting her family - Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Downey, in Port Arthur, where she attended a farewell party for them - Mr.Downey being moved to Edmonton, and also seeing Rev. Douglas Sly and his family in Winnipeg. Miss Dorothy Sly has gone to Ottawa to visit Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sly. Mrs .Jim Singleton marked her daughter Jane's 13th birthday on February 27 by inviting 17 girls in for the evening. The prizes for the various contests were bicycle accessories of various sorts. A buffet lunch was enjoyed with the birthday cake iced in Easter colours. The Explorers, a group of 9 - 12 girls in the United Church ended their mission study with a gay party. The book for the course was The Golden Coin, about the life of a ten year old boy in India. As the girls entered the room, all wearing correct- ly draped saris, they were presented with garlands of flowers, following the ritual of greeting guests in India. During the evening they ate water ices similar to those sold in Indian bazaars, and watched a film entitled "Chote Goes To School'. To complete the occasion the girls sat on mats and were served varied Indian desserts and tea by leaders Mrs.Charles Pike, Mrs.Frank Pymmerton, Mrs .Roly Gander and Judy D'Arcy, apprentice leader. HOME AND SCHOOL MEETING MONDAY The regular meeting of the Schreiber High Home and School Association will be held in the Library Class Room on Monday, March 16th at 8:00 P.M. TERRACE BAY SKI CLUB NEWS. The club Championship races will be held this coming Sunday, March [5th. Competitions will start at 1:45 P.M. ALPINE EVENTS:- and Combined. These will be competed for in the following groups. Giant slalom, Downhill BOYS = II and under BOYS 12 - GIRLS = II and under GIRLS [2 - MEN -- 16 and over WOMEN |6 and over. SPECTATORS ARE WELCOME.
