LOCAL STUDENTS WIN POSTER CONTEST FORT FRANCES - The Conservation Clubs of Northwestern Ontario sponsored Conservation Poster Contest for elementary school grades two to eight were judged in Fort Frances High School Tuesday night. Entries from Rainy River to Marathon were forwarded to Fort Frances for judging. The winners in the poster contest are as follows:- Group 1 - Grade 2; Edward Zwaresh, St, Martin's School, Terrace; Lorraine Dobush, St. Martints School, Terrace Bay. Jamie Cumming, of the Terrace Bay Public School was a winner in Group 3. The judges in the poster contest commented several times on the thought and work applied in almost every entry in the contest. In many cases, decisions were so close ties developed and second votes had to be taken. Groups l, 2, and 3 were provided with a slogan upon which to develop a poster. ae ST. MARTIN'S SET "LATE™ RECORD Students in St. Martints Separate School set a new record during the month of February when there were only three "lates", Mr. R. Kenney, school Principal, reports that this is the lowest on record since the school was established in 1952. Mrs. A. Fedun spent. the past week in Keewatin visiting with her daughter Veronica and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Huchulak. ART CLUB NEWS The Terrace Bay Art Club will hold the regular business meeting on Thursday, March 5th, at 8:00 P.M. in the Recreation Centre. Following the meeting a film will be shown entitled "Westwind" (The Life of Tom Thompson), also slides of French impressionist painting will be another feature of the evening's program, and refreshments will be served. saa EEE SERRE CURLING CLUB NEWS The Challenge Curling to be played this Saturday appears to be developing some interes ting aspects. The inter-department competitio at the mill is quite keen. Everyone seems to be getting into the spirit of the game except administration. Perhaps they could arrange a game with the local businessmen who are also conspicuous by their absence. It would also be interesting to see who is the best skip in the family. There is nothing barring a team from the regular womenst league from challenging her husband's rink to a friendly game. The lounge is open from 9 a.m. onwards. Remember the evening social. Come down and watch the competition. Stay and socialize with your friends a sas cseanit tae os iue:i= igs hehoapaien aan amadnalintabieeinamineninas TERRACE BAY PEE-WEES* WIN NORTH SHORE TITLE Last week-end saw our local Pee-Wee All- stars travel to Marathon and win the North Shore Pee-Wee Championship, by defeating, Marathon, White River and Red Rock. In their first game Friday evening the local lads had to go all out to defeat Marathoy After regualtion time the score was tied 2 - 2 and in sudden death overtime the locals notched the winning goal to win the game 3 - 2. The next game was played Saturday morning and again in sudden death overtime Terrace Bay defeated White River by a like score of 3 - 2. The boys went to ice again on Saturday afternoon, with the opposition Red Rock, in a do or die effort for the title. After the final bell had rang the happiest bunch of boys swarmed the ice to receive the trophy that they worked so hard for, as they defeated Red Rock 2-1 ina regulation game. Kelso Roberts, Q.C., Minister of Lands and Forests. The following dates and limits of catch apply to this District: Yellow Pickerel (Walleye) May 16th to April 14th, except Lake Superior where there is no closed season. Limit of catch - Six (6) in one day. Lake Trout - No closed season, except that portion of the District which falls within the Cochrane Territorial District where the season extends from January lst to October 15th. Limit of catch -- Five (5) in one day. Northern Pike - No closed season. Six per day. Rainbow Trout May Ist to November 30th, Five per day. Brook or Speckled Trout _and Brown Trout - May Ist to September 15th, Limits of catch - Brown Trout - Five per day. Speckled or Brook Trout - ten lbs. plus one fish, or fifteen fish, whichever is the lesser. Smallmouth Bass - July lst to November 30th. Limit six per day. Sturgeon - June 13th to May 14th.
