LOCAL GIKLS RATE HIGH ON MUSIC EXAMS Congratulations are in order for three Terrace Bay girls who rated very well on recent written music examinations taken in Schreiber. Karin Moore and Lynn Simmer re- ceived first class honors in Grade two Theory and Margot Anderson received honors in Grade three Harmony. Best wishes are extended to three local contestants in the Lakehead Musical Festival, Linda Hayes, Jane Colborne and Ronald Matuszak Dale Monteith drove down from Fort William to visit her sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Bob Wallwin over the weekend. She was accompanied by her niece and nephew Sally and Bruce Murray, also of Fort William. Denise Matuszak celebrated her eleventh birthday Tuesday with a party enjoyed by friends. |Refreshments, games and a singsong followed. MAYTAG WASHERS STEAM DRYERS March 5, 1964 SAFETY AWARDS PRESENTED TO ONTARIO HYDRO'S TERRACE BAY AREA STAFF Safety awards, marking a total of 10,217 days free of lost time injuries compiled by Ontario Hydrots Terrace Bay ROA staff, were presented to the Area Manager and Foremen of the crews at a dinner held at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel on Friday, February 21st. L. Crandlemire, Area Manager, who acted as Master of Ceremonies, congratulated the staff for their fine showing during the past year. He expressed his feeling that the evening's events were earned in every way by the staff through their co-operation and attention to safety procedures. I.C. Ingimundson, Regional Manager, in congratulating the employees for their en- viable record, stated that the statistics spoke for themselves. He went on to review the progress of the Northwestern Region in the past year and expressed optimism for the future, pointing out that safety plays an extremely important part in our progress. In presenting a safety achievement award to Mr. Crandlemire, he said that the Terrace Bay Area had compiled an excellent record and deserved much credit. J.W.Looney, Operations Engineer, presented awards to J.Phillips, Chief Operator; L. Halonen, Line Maintenance Foreman and R. Pitkanen, Forestry Foreman, He congratulated the crews for their fine showing and pointed out that this is the llth consecutive award | for the operators, marking 5,804 days free of lost time injuries, the 5th for the line crew, marking 2,460 days and the 4th for the forestry crew, marking 1,953 days. This, he stated, compared favourably with the records compiled by Hydro groups anywhere in the province and, indeed, with any other indus- trial group.
