It is not often a rink achieves Special - £ 6: 6 this goal. Gi In order to represent the local club, the Duquette rink had to win the club play-off against five other teams. The zone final, including representative rinks from all clubs along the north shore was the next step up the ladder towards playing in the Canadian Brier. Lou, Len, Danny and Ed met their zone competitors in Red Rock just over three weeks ago and despatched the opposition with a display of professional curling form. The district finals for the Northwestern area (from Manitouwadge to the Manitoba border) were held in Marathon this year. After losing the first game, the Terrace Bay Club ended up in a tie with Redding of Kenora. Once again they won, and were on their way to the all- Ontario finals in Port Arthur. In the all - Ontario finals, representatives from Northwestern Ontario, Kirkland Lake, and Sudbury play a double round-robin series and the winner represents Northern Ontario in the Canadian Brier,- the Stanley Cup of Curling. Lou and his team made an excellent showing. Pollybank, from Kirkland Lake, won out, but the verdict was in doubt right down to the final play-off game. In a series such as this, it is worth noting that the winner in the Northern Ontario competitions is representing over 4000 inks in the narthern part of our province.
