PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER VISITS TERRACE BAY On her tour of the area, Provincial Commissioner, Mrs. D.R.Gunn of Port Credit, stopped over Sunday to visit with Girl Guides and Brownies of Schreiber and Terrace Bay in the Highschool Auditorium. Greet ed upon her arrival by Mrs.Shirley Mikus, District Commissioner, Mrs.Gunn.and guests were escorted in, preceded by the Girl Guide Color Party. Accompany ing Mrs.Gunn were Mrs. H.Bickmore, Area Commis- sioner, of Fort William, Mrs. Ivy Cooper, Divisional Commissioner, Superior Division of Port Arthur, and Mrs. D.Earle, District Commissioner and Mr. Earle of Marathon. Opening their program, each Brownie Pack from Schreiber and Terrace Bay sang a song depicting a different country followed by Brownies Jacqueline Mousseau of Terrace Bay and Jane Bailey of Schreiber presenting to Mrs.Kay Graham the used nylons they had collected in their recent drive. In thanking them Mrs.Graham explained the Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church would pack and ship them to Korea Widows who reknit the nylon into many useful articles of clothing. In conjunction with Thinking Day, the Brownies each filed forward to make a pyramid of their fairy gold, followed by the Patrol Leaders from the Guide Companies with their contributions, meeting with the guests of honor upon their return to packs and Compan ies. Mrs.Gunn accepted the pyramid of pennies on behalf of the World Friendship Fund. In addressing the Girl Guides and Brownies, Mrs.Gunn emphasized the importance of Guiding and Thinking Day and the Brownies closed their portion with the Brownie Revel . A pianoforte duet was played by Sharon} St.Louis and Jane Valiquette. Jackie. Latour read a story and the 2nd Company Guides sang. Cathy Thorpe, Kathy Ginn and Pat Mikus recited the Guide Law Beatitudes and the service closed with Benedic- tion. Velma LeBlanc accompanied all the girls as they epened with the singing of "This Is My Father's House" and closed the service with "The Holy Spirit". Junior Leader Bonnie Hamilton was in charge of the Guide Color Party and Velma LeBlanc the Guide's Own Leader. With the March Off of colors, Taps concluded the afternoon program. The visiting Provincial Commissioner was given an opportunity of meeting briefly with the Guiders, Girl Guides and members of the Local Association to Guides and Brownies, when a United Nations Buffet supper was served in St.Martin's Parish Hall. Mrs. Mikus introduced Mrs.Gunn and the visiting Commis- sioners. On behalf of the group Mrs.Earle thanked everyone and, in particular, Mrs.Paul Coupal who had convened the supper . WOMEN OF THE MOOSE MEET Senior Regent Jackie Calder chaired the meeting, Wednesday evening, of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 1726. Minutes of the previous meeting and correspondence were presented by Recorder Margaret Duriez and business of the organization arranged. Balloting was held for another new member.
