Eddie was born in Fort Osnaburg on Lake St. Joseph and, with another teenage lad, paddled to White River seeking employment. After some years there Eddie came to Schreiber retiring in 1943 as section foreman. However, idleness proved a burden and energetic Eddie secured work as extra . man with the town utility squad and, at 80, was still one of its most active men. Twice since then Eddie has "retired" but accepted part-time employ- ment. During his years in Schreiber, Eddie has never missed morning service in St. John's Anglican Church except when on duty. Attending his party from out of town were Wilma (Mrs. R.S. Hutchison) of Ft. William who brought the birthday cake and Edith (Mrs. Alex O'Grodnik) of Terrace Bay with her husband. Mrs. Alice Potvin, daughter, and Mrs. R. Nesbitt, wife of a grandson, assisted Mrs. Lawson in serving the family dinner.
