As this league is played on a point system, the winner will not be declared until the end of the season. The local Ladies Bonspiel will be held April 3rd, 4th and 5th. Posters are now in the mail and all local ladies are urged to enter their rinks early to avoid disappoint- ment, Bonspiel Chairman is Marj, Hamilton. LAD CURLING CLUB NEWS Over the past week-end, Ida Romanuk*s rink of A. Sinkins, 3rd; E. Partington, 2nd; and D. Clancy, lead; captured the Northwestern Ontario Zone Curling finals held in Red Rock. Five towns in the zone were represented - Marathon, Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Nipigon and Red Rock. A single round robin was played. Marathon defeated Terrace Bay in the first game but lost to Schreiber on a later draw. After the initial loss, the local ladies went on to win their next three games. This necessitated a play-off between Terrace Bay and Marathon with the Romanuk foursome winning by a comfortable margin, The ladies now represent this zone in the Northwestern Ontario Ladies Curling Champion- ships, being held in Fort William on January 27th, 28th and 29th. Congratulations ladies and good luck in Fort William. L.A. TO CANADIAN LEGION HOLD MEETING The Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion Branch # 223, held their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 14th, Initiation of five new members took place, y and the Christmas Money Dell was raffled being won by Lisa Lafontaine. The next regular meeting will be held on the 2nd Monday of the month, February 10th. The executive meeting will be held on Monday, January 27th, at the home of Mrs. H. Solly, 149 A Birch Crescent. A delightful luncheon was served by the | past executive. ART CLUB HOLDS BEGINNERS CLASSES The Terrace Bay Art Club held a Beginner's Session on Thursday, January 16th with a very good attendance. A most interesting evening was planned with everyone trying their hand at Charcoal Sketching. The next two sessions will deal with still life in oils and all interested persons should plan to attend both evenings, Next meeting Thursday, January 23rd at 8.00 P.M. - large meeting room of the Recreation Centre. GENERAL CLUB NEWS The first round of curling for the Seagram's Trophy, was completed recently with the P. Wellings rink taking top honours with eight wins and two losses. On the Welling's rink are J, Stachiw, 3rd; L. Gavin, 2nd; and M. Knight, lead. Tied for runner-up position with seven wins and three losses are the Bouchard, Duquette and Latour rinks. The second roung for the Club Championship Canadian Oil Trophy is now in progress.
