The Treasurer's bond was inspected and approved and a by-law to authorize borrowing $60,000.00 from the Bank of Montreal to carry on town business pen ding 1964 tax collection was passed. (Continued) 23, 1964 LEGION OFFICERS INSTALLED A joint installation of new officers of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109, and its Auxiliary, was held on January 18th with George Cataford, past President and Life Member, conducting the rites and Lloyd Small as acting Sgt. at arms. Wallace McCouan and Frank MacDonald were color bearers. Borden Ross was installed as Sgt. at arms; W. E. Col- linson and Mrs. Neil Ross as Secretaries; A. V. Pear son and Mrs. Lloyd Small, Treasurers; L.V. Bourke, Branch Service Officer; the following as executive committees:- R.A. Wood, J. Winters, T. Webb, D. L. Gunter, W. Madge, W. Kenney, Mesdames W. Moon, R. A. Wood, J. Morris, B. Lidkea, W. Para- dis and A.E. Rigelsford; Neil Ross, Hobden Spikula, Mrs. R. Wood and Mrs. W. The occasion began with a buffet dinner and fol- lowing the installation, a social evening was enjoyed with many coming from Terrace Bay and Rossport for the party. Lloyd Small, introduced as a Wild Knight read an amusing monologue and the draw prize for the evening was won by Mrs. Jack McCouan. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE HOLD REGULAR MEETING The Women's Institute held their regular meeting on January 14th with Mrs. N.. Smith presidirig. Roll call, taken by Mrs. W. Thrower, was answered with helpful mending hints. Mrs. F. V. Harness, treasurer, reported on the Christmas hampers donated and Mrs. F. Macadam read a paper on Canadian Agriculture. Mrs. A. W. Slater spoke on the use of dairy products in the home Plans were made for presentations to the New Year baby of the town at the February meeting. Mrs. J. Corbett gave the card secretary report. A belated Christmas party was enjoyed with Mrs. R. C. Macadam convening the program and Mrs. Harness running the penny auction. The tea table was covered with festive cloth and centred with vari-colored mums offset by red candles. ST. JOHN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH W.A.
