Volume 5, No. 46 HYDRO UTILITIES BUILDING FORMALLY OPENED Thirteen months ago the cornerstone was laid for the Hydro Utilities Building in Terrace Bay, opened by Councillor.D. Evans-Smith as he introduced Reeve J.P. Heenan.to welcome the many visitors to the offi- cial opening Monday, November 12th. Reeve Heenan noted that many of those present attended the corrier= stone ceremony. Dedication of the building was pronounced by Rev. T. Garnett Husser before Mr.J.Ferrier, Mill Manager of Kimberly-Clark Corporation was called upon to cut the ribbon, declaring the building officially open. Manager of Ontario Hydro, Northwestern: Region, Mr. 1.C. Ingimundson of Port Arthur, expressed his pleasure at being present for the occasion. The Hon. George Wardrop, Minister of Mines; brought greetings from the Premier of Ontario and expressed personal pleasure at being invited. Mr. Wardrope offered congratulations on the erection of the Hydro Utilities Building and felt it most notable and praiseworthy that it had been built without re- questing remuneration from the Government. Visitors were invited to inspect the newly-opened building before adjourning to Terrace Bay Motor Hotel for dinner. Open House was held at the Utilities Building be- tween the hours of two and four in the afternoon. fi b hee, F & Serving the District in which we live SS TOW November 15, 1962 : BRANCE DAY OBSERVED HERE Those who remembered gathered at the Cenotaph Sunday afternoon to pay homage to the dead of two: World wars and were cautioned by Rev. T. Garnett Husser in his address that it was well to remember the empty place at our tables. Referring to the first and second world wars he continued that their sacrifice was meant to provide a future for us, but now'the . question was, would there-be-a future tomorrow? Recalling the words of Moses, "I have set before you Life and Death, the Blessing and the Curse. There- fore, chose you Life." He concluded with the assur- ance that God is Here as never before. Wreaths were respectfully laid at the Cenotaph by Mrs. W. Anderson, representing the Mothers of Canada; W. T. Baillie, President of the Canadian - Legion, Branch 223; Mrs. N. Bajkiewicz, Legion Ladies Auxiliary; Gordon Black, Province of Ont- ario; Mrs. G. Dashkewytch, Catholic Women*s: Lea- gue; Mrs. R. Harris, Order of Eastern Star; J. Gross, Loyal Order of Moose; Mrs. L. Legault, Women of the Moose; John Ferrier, Kimberly-Clark Corpor= ation; Reeve J. P. Heenan, Township of Terrace Bay; James Hale, Kiwanis Club; Donald Colborne, for Waghorn's: Pharmacy; Tony Costa, Costa's Food- master; Jack' Caccamo, Tony's Groceteria'and Mrs. F. Ford for Anford's Limited, before Bugler W. F. Colborne sounded the Last Post. 3 The Two Minutes silence was ended as W. Baillie intoned the familiar "They shall grow not old, as we who are left grow old; Age shall not worry them, nor the years. condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them", followed by the sounding of Reveille. Benediction was pronounced by Rev. Husser. The Terrace Bay Band again accompanied the gathering as they sang The Queen before Parade Marshall John Shivas gave orders for the Color Party to march past, followed by Veterans of both wars, Legionnaires and '| Auxiliary members.
