AND MISS. *EM, SPECIAL SWIMMING & WATER SAFETY CLASSES For the next several weeks, Swimming In- structor Marvin Steen will conduct special artificial respiration classes for Junior and advanced Royal Life Saving Classes in Swimming. These are in addition to the regular Red Cross Water Safety classes held daily. Anyone who possibly can should take advantage of these special classes to attain the special knowledge, safety booklets and awards that are part of. each course. OFFICE, (1) JUNIOR ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION CLASSES Age group - 10 years or over Times - Mon.Wed & Friday at 6.30 (for two weeks) Place --- Large room of Recreation Centre Fee - 50¢, to cover cost of booklets and ; awards. Course Content - a detailed course in the various methods of Artificial Respiration, their applications and effects. (2) ROYAL LIFE SAVING INTERMEDIATE CERTIFI- ~ CATES Age group - 12-years of age or over with a Red. Cross Junior Badge or. Equivalent. Times - Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10.30 A.M. commencing this Thursday (2 weeks duration) Place - at the Beach Area Fee - $1.00, to cover booklets and awards Course Content - a detailed course of in- struction in swimming, safety and lifesaving at the Royal Life Society Intermediate level. - (3) ROYAL LIFE SAVING BRONZE MEDAL CLASSES Age group -- 14 years and over, with INTER- MEDIATE RED CROSS BADGE OR EQUIVALENT, Times - Mon, Wed.& Friday at 10.30 A.M. commencing next Monday (for three weeks) Place - at the Beach Area Fee - $2.00 to cover booklets and awards Course Content - a detailed course of in- struction in swinming, lifesaving, water safety and first aid. BAY Work on the Norwood Motel has progressed at a rapid pace and the owner, Mrs. R. Paget, expects to open for business at an earlier date than first anticipated. The firm of Stead & Lindstrom have star- ted work on an addition to St.Martin's Separate School, Two rooms are being added to the front of the building, extending out to the sidewalk on Selkirk Avenue. It is hoped that the new rooms will be ready for occupancy in about sixty days. The expected enrolment (254) will tax the existing rooms beyond their limits. The new Building Supply Centre in the industrial area, though not completely reno- vated, is now open for business. Several new homes are also in process of construction and many citizens are building garages or making other changes in the in- side and on the outside of existing homes, SAFE LOOTED IN RECREATION CENTRE A safe containing approximately $1,100 was rifled sometime during the night of July 9th - 10th at the Recreation centre in Terrace, Bay. Entrance to the building was gained through the Curling Rink by forcing the rear door, through the lounge where a door between the lounge and snack-bar was also jimmied, allowing entry to the snack-bar where the safe was located. The job an the safe is theught to have been done by expert cracksmen, At least two men were involved and a car is presumed to have been used in their getaway. Local police and Ontario Provincial Police are investigating. FASTBALL CANCELLED FOR TWO WEEKS aa ee a Due to the absence of the majority of players during the next two weeks, House League Fastball action has been suspended until the vacation period is over. Games will resume on Monday, July 24th with the regularly scheduled game for that date. -The games postponed will be re- scheduled for a later date. FIRST NORTH SHORE SWIM MEET SATURDAY, © The first in a series of. three North Shore Swim Meets will take place at the Marathon Pool next Saturday, July 15th. Most of the events on the programme will remain the same as last year, with scoring | : ' | on the basis of three points for First Place, two points for Second Place and one point for Third. Swimmers may enter any three events plus one of the relays. A swinmer's | age will be taken as of July Ist, 1961. A representation from Terrace Bay will attend the Meet in Marathon, Red Rock swimmers captured the championship last yane | and will do their best to retain the crown.
