On behalf of the Fire Department Reeve Ferrier had accepted an award last month from Mr.Cottenden of the Fire Marshall's Office, for the Department!s special work during Fire Prevention Week, A suggested stop-over in Terrace Bay during the Highway opening ceremonies Septem- ber 17th, received from Mr. J.Harvey Johnson of the Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce was accepted, Reeve and Mrs.Ferrier will travel to Wawa for the Opening Ceremonies, A letter of appreciation was sent by the Reeve to the local Horticultural Society for their outstanding contribution to the commun- ity throughout the year which culminated with their annual exhibition, Mr.Ferrier felt the attractive grounds in Terrace Bay had been encouraged largely by the Society. Following a report by Constable Hayes on the wounding of bears by arrows and similar methods,.Council felt the By-Law should be amended to include use of any lethal weapons.
