Circulation Terrace Bay & Schreiber "AROUND-~THE-LAKE" MOTORCADE TO ARRIVE IN TERRACE BAY AND SCHREIDER ON SEPTEMBER 16TH, On September 16th, the Motorcade from the Lakehead to Wawa will make a stop in Terrace Bay. It will halt in Schreiber for lunch and in the early afternoon the visitors will be welcomed by Terrace Bay town authorities and the general public at the Recreation Centre, A large banner will be in evidence welcoming the visitors, Terrace Pay "stickers" for the cars will be available. Reeve John Ferrier and Mrs, Ferrier will join the Motorcade on its journey east as well as other town business people, The Reeve's car will have a' suitable Terrace Bay sign displayed as will other Terrace Day cars, Any Terrace Bay residents who wish to join this Motorcade may turn in their names to Mr, D, Evans-Smith, The business men of Schreiber have been very keen to take part in this historic occasion and have invited the personnel of the Motorcade to have lunch in Schreiber at approximately 1 P.M, Honourable George Wardrope, Minister of Reforms will speak at the luncheon also Mr. Noden M.P, for Rainy River; Reeve W, D'Arcy will welcome the visitors. It is the wish of the Schreiber business men to have the residents of the community take part in the ceremonies, There will be a parade through Schreiber including floats contributed by local service organizations, Places of business will be closed from 1 P.M, until the Motorcade has departed. Any Schreiber resident interested in taking part in this Motorcade is welcome to do so. From the above reports, the towns of Terrace Bay and Schreiber will be well represented on the history making occasion of opening the final link of the Trans Canada Highway. The official ceremony will take place in Wawa on September 17th, Premier Frost, Federal Works Minister Walker, Provincial Highways Minister Cass and Sault Ste. Marie Legislative Member, C.M, Lyons, will cut the ribbons. The "Canadian" is out of Schreiber eastbound at 12.12 a.sm., and westbound at 10,18 a.m. --- LOCAL MEN RECEIVE HONORS AT FIRE TRAINING SCHOOL A government sponsored Fire Training School has been in progress all summer at Gravenhurst, Ontario, giving weekly courses to representatives of Fire Departments from all parts of the province. Mr. Syd. Naylor, a regular fireman, and Mr, Stan Hodgkiss, a volunteer, attended this school the week of August 29th-Sept. 2nd. They report a highly informative session with intensive study and plenty of practice in the latest fire fighting methods and are to be congratulated on attaining honors in the final tests. HUNTER SAFETY CERTIFICATES TO BE PRESENTED Graduation certificates and crests will be presented on September 15th at 7 P.M., in the Curling Lounge by the Terrace Bay Fish & Game Club to fifteen local boys who have successfully completed their Hunter Safety Training Program. UNIONS SPONSOR LABOUR DAY PROGRAM Labour Day was celebrated once more in Terrace Bay with a sports program, treats and favours for all the children of the town sponsored by the two Mill Unions, the Inter- national Brotherhood of Pulp Sulphite and Paper Mill Workers, Local, 665, and Electric- al Workers, Local 1861, Intermittent showers and a brisk breeze failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the youngsters who took part in the many and varied events at the Moose Hall grounds, Monday afternoon, The Terrace Day Citizens' Band added inspiration | and encouragement with their snappy band music.
