Correspondence .included the monthly report on Fire activities and inspections by Fire Chief George Maitland; an invitation from Hydro to attend a sales seminar in Port Arthur; acknowledgement of donation from the Horticultural Society's Show Committee; re- quest for restricted speed of motor vehicles; enquiry to Mr.McKinnon, Department of Lands and Forests, in regard to their intentions at Hayes Lake; request to Mr,Linkewich to improve the property front and a reply to Mr. W.E.Cavanaugh with outline of plans for improvement to the cemetery approaches, Accounts from Library, Hydro, Township and Recreation Committee were itemized by the Secretary-Treasurer and passed, Amend- ment to:the Dog By-Law to include authority to levy fine on anyone not purchasing dog Council noted that in future anyone found tampering with the Kennels will be severely dealt with by the Township. Council voted on the purchase of a loud Hail for fire fighting and with the one from the Recreation Committee would have two readily available for emergencies. Mrs.Bouchard enquired about the raising of some fire hydrants for more efficient and faster use, and also of clearance of property adjacent to Howeand Drew; both items will be attended to. Mr.Evans-Smith explained work was proceed- ing on Dog and Kicycle By--Laws and the delay in the banner ordered by the Town, Assistance was offered in speeding up delivery of the necessary canvas, Mr. Ferrier received consent of Council to clear property between the shopping centre and the Highway, allowing the Shopping Centre to be seen from the Highway.
