PETER MAZZA STRICKEN SATURDAY APRIL 19 IN LAKEHEAD The people of Terrace Bay were shocked when they received the news that Peter Mazza passed away last Saturday, April 19 in Fort William, Peter came to work for the mill in Terrace Bay in 1947, and was one of the better known persons in this community. Among his many activities in Tervace Bay he managed the Terrace Bay "Pale Face" hockey team for two years, served as prosident and secretary of the Terrace Bay Five-pin bowling Association and guided the Terrace Bay Amateur Baseball Association through its most successful years. He served as treasurer for a time, was responsible for the constituticn, by-laws and regulations of the league which were adopted in 1956 and was a senior member cf the executive when forced to leave active participation following me¢ical advice, He became first historian of the league. He was publicity chairman for the Rossport Derby in 1955 and 1956. It will be appreciated that Peter was more than generous in his efforts to organize activities for the benefit of everyone. And it was only following medical advice that he began to curtail his participation in the 'field cf sports he loved so much. But it is typical of Peter's magnanimity that last Saturday when stricken he was a guest of honour at a banquet in Fort William at which he presented a cribbage trophy in honour of his deceased brother, As long as sport exists along the North Shore, indeed in Northwest Ontario, Peter Mazza will be remembered.
