SUPERIORS WIN ONE DROP TWwO During the past week, Terrace Bay played three games away from home coming out on the short-end in two of them, Last Thursday night Terrace Bay dropped ~ a close, hard fought contest to Marathon 5-4 in a game that could have gone either way. Marathon's winning goal came with less than 14 minutes remaining in the game on a sho" that Weaver never had a chance to stop. Saturday and Sunday the local six journeyed to Nipigon for what appeared to be two easy victories, Nipigon, however, 'had-other ideas and after drop- ping the first game to the Superiors 7-5, came -back Sunday afternoon to score an upset +54 overtime win, It is hard to wderstand how a team can look so good one night and then two nights later play-such poor hockey, . At Marathon, the Superiors out-skated, out- fought and out-shot the Mercuries, in fact they did everything but win the game, They came up with a fine effort, and while we can't take anything away from a good Marathon team, it is felt the extremely soft ice hindered ovr players more than it did Marathon's, However, both teams had the same kind of ice to contend with so the best we can say to the Superiors is let's even the score with Marathon on their next visit to Terrace Bay, Both games at Nipigon were good games to watch especially for the Nipigon rooters, Perhaps the tough game with Marathon'took too much out of our players because. for some reason that old desire to win just wasn't with our team at Nipigon, They let Nipigon carry the play to them, they were thoroughly out- hustled and as one person said, "Terrace Bay was lucky to win Saturday night's game." Netting goals for the Superiors last week were Whalen (2), Moro and Stachiw in (cont'd. page 7) THIS--N-THAT The Superiors entertain the Schreiber Colts in the local Arena tonight, game time being 8,00 P.M, A week ago this game looked like a runaway for Terrace Bay, but now it looks a lot closer, Schreiber's lone victory thus far has been a 3-2 win over Nipigon, but the Colts aren't ready to roll over and play dead yet, They're coming to town looking for an upset, and if the Superiors don't straighten themselves out, they'll be in for some | trouble tonight. All in all it looks like an evening of interesting hockey, so why not plan on coming down to the Arena - GAME TIME IS 8,00 P.M. 2 &% You can't take any team too lightly in this league and Terrace Bay found that out the hard way last Sunday, Wishful thinking doesn't win hockey games, The Superiors open a three game home stand tonight, and we can think of no better time to get some victories under our Following are Terrace Bay's next four games: Thursday, December 27th - Schreiber 8.00 P.M.
